Robert liked nothing more in the world than to win. He was truly smart at chess but he couldn't1 losing. He thought he must be the first and became the "best"chess player in his2 by using all kinds of tricks (花招). Almost no one3 to play with him after class. Only one boy that did play with Robert was Allen. By playing tricks，Robert always won and4 Allen.
However，day after day，Robert5 got bored with all this. He needed something more, so he6 to try out for the city chess competition. Many7 players from different schools would join in the big event. He certainly wanted to be the8 of the game. But when he tried using all those tricks，well，9 of them worked. The judges(裁判) stopped any of the tricks from working.
Robert couldn't beat anybody else. He soon10 in the game. When the result of the game came out , he was very11 to find Allen was the final winner. Later，Robert found out that Allen was very12 . Failures(失败)didn't make him upset or lose13 because he was learning each time they play. And from 14 competitions，he got to become a real winner.
From then on，Robert changed. Sometimes he was not sad to lose15 that was how he would learn something useful. He stopped expecting to win all the time，but got his feet back on the ground.
