The Silk Road (中国丝绸之路) was once a route between China and Europe. Xinjiang covers over half of the route. Letˈs go along the route and find out some beautiful places.
Kashi (喀什) ——新疆门户 | First, let's go to Kashi by plane. It is the window of Xinjiang. It borders (接壤) on Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. China plans to build a railway from Kashi to Pakistan. |
Kuqa (库车) ——歌舞之乡 | Then, we'll take the high-speed train to Kuqa. It is a land with beautiful singing and dancing. Kuqa is famous for a special musical instrument. People usually play the lute (琉特琴诗琴). Its dance is also very famous. Dancers use almost every part of their bodies, especially the waist and the neck. |
Hami (哈密) —水果天堂 | At last, we'll ride the camel to Hami. It is an important town in Xinjiang. You may know it because of the Hami melon. In fact, Xingjiang is home to many popular fruits, for example, grapes in Turpan and pears in Kuerle. |
