The roads of our city are very busy. There are a lot of cars, buses and bikes on the road. This is called "traffic". You will see signs on the roads while driving or walking down streets. You must know traffic lights and traffic signs. Now let's take a look at the signs in the pictures below, so you can understand them better.

YIELD—This sign tells you that you need to slow down, but you may not have to come to a stop.

Crosswalk—This sign tells walkers that they can cross the street. So cars have to stop when they see a person walking on the crosswalk.

DO NOT ENTER(进入)—This sign means you mustn't enter the road at that point.

FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELT—There are often signs on roads in the United States telling people that they must wear seat belts. All states in the US have different seat belt laws.

POLAR BEAR ALERT(警惕的)—This sign tells drivers that they should be alert to wildlife in the area.

SCHOOL ZONE—This sign tells drivers that there is a school nearby, so it is a good idea to slow down and pay attention to children.
