China's first self-driving taxis started to run on roads in Guangdong on Thursday. Pony. Ai is a great autonomous（自动） driving technology company in China. It was set up in 2016. From 2018 to 2022, the company tested robotic taxis for about 11 million kilometers.

The company has given 100 robotic taxis in Shenzhen. This time, it plans to give robotic taxis in Nansha, Guangzhou. People can take self-driving taxis by using an app on their mobile phones. The app is called Pony. The fare（费用） starts at 12 yuan （about 1. 7 dollars）. It is the same as other taxis in Guangzhou. 

The robotic taxis are smart. There are some cameras and a computer on the taxis. They can safely keep away from objects on the roads and follow the road rules. They can feel everything within 200 meters. To make sure that the robotic taxioperates in a safe way, there is a backup（备用的） driver to help drive. And it can let the driver change from "self-driving mode" to "normal mode" in some time.

Self-driving cars are developing quickly in China. In Shanghai, there are also robotic taxis. The cost is not expensive for people. So some people try to take them. People say they are new and clean. It's funny to take robotic taxis.
