Social media platforms from the Chinese mainland are getting popular among young people in Taiwan Province, according to Xinhua Daily.

"It is a great helper 3 I can learn some makeup skills to improve myself." On Feb 11, Xiaohongshu ranked first on the list of popular apps in the Google Play Store in Taiwan Province, with more than 5 4 downloads. Most of its users were in their 5 , Xinhua Daily reported. 6 popular app among the young in Taiwan Province is Douyin. Nearly 70 percent of users are 7 the age of 24.
Zhang Hongyuan, a professor from a university in Taiwan Province, said that by using the same social media platforms, young people from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan Province 8 closer to each other.
"This helps them 9 understand each other than before and encourages them to join hands for the development of Mainland-Taiwan relations," said Zhang. Though many people from Taiwan Province have never been to the mainland, the apps have made them 10 much about the mainland.
