John is eight years old, and he is a good student. He can read and write well. He works hard and is good at his subjects. His parents and teachers like him very much. But he has a very big head, so he looks very funny and his classmates often make fun of (取笑) him.
One weekend, John wants to go to his uncle's home. His uncle lives in a small village and it's about twenty kilometers away from his city. He goes to a small town by subway. There his uncle waits for (等候) him and takes him to his house by bike. John makes some friends soon (很快). They play games happily. But one afternoon he cries (哭) to his uncle, "All the children make fun of me. They say I have a big head."
"Don't listen to them," his uncle says. "You have a beautiful head. You look cool. Now don't cry any more. Go to the fruit store to buy three kilos of apples home. I'll make apple pies for you." John says, "OK. Let's buy a big shopping bag now."
"Oh, dear, we don't need one. You can use your hat," his uncle says.
