Peter is looking at his new sports shoes. They are the third pair he gets this term. The first pair is red and the second pair is blue. Now he has the black shoes. "Next time I want white ones," Peter thinks.
Peter's parents are busy. They don't have much time to be with Peter. They feel sorry for that, so they buy a lot of things he wants for him.
Then Peter sees his classmate Sam's pencil box. Sam's parents have good jobs. Why does Sam use an old pencil box? Peter doesn't understand(理解).
"Hey, Sam," Peter says. "New things make me happy. Why don't you buy a new pencil box, too?"
"This one is still nice," Sam says. "And I'm saving money."
"For what?" Peter asks.
"I want to save 200 dollars this year to help some children in villages," Sam says.
Peter is surprised (惊讶的). Sam is doing a really great thing. Then he starts (开始) thinking, "Do I really need those new shoes, clothes and toys(玩具)?"
