Chinese rose is a general term of many kinds of roses. It's one of the most flowers that is widely planted in China. As its English name shows, Chinese rose is native to China. In other words, it was grown from the wild rose by Chinese. This makes it different the roses which were brought in from West Asia by the Silk Road.
During the Three Kingdoms period, there a famous man in Nanyang. He travelled everywhere to collect different roses and planted in his garden. As a result, his garden became famous for its different collections of roses. He was Zhuge Liang, the first person to change wild roses into Chinese roses.
One year, a wild rose climbed over the fence and its mixed with his roses. Unexpectedly, a special kind of rose came the next year. This surprise made him excited. He realized he could get new roses by growing the wild roses and the common roses together. After many years' effort, he successfully grew more different kinds of new roses.
The new roses had more colors and their smells more pleasing. Most of all, the new roses blossom (开花) every month. After that, people were able to see beautiful flowers all year round, even in snowy . So, people called them Yueyue Hong, which means they have red flowers every month.
