As a mouse looked through a hole in the wall, he saw a farmer and his wife open a box. He found that inside it was a mousetrap (捕鼠器).
Going out of the house, the mouse shouted. "There is a mousetrap in the house!" The chicken said, "I can tell this is a big problem for 1 , but it is nothing to me."
The pig said, "I am 2 , but I won't do anything to help you."
The cow said, "I'm sorry for you, but there's nothing I can do for you."
That night, they all 3 the sound of the mousetrap working. In the dark, the farmer's wife didn't see the trap caught a snake's tail. She reached her hand out for the mousetrap 4 the snake bit her. She was taken to the 5 and came back home with a fever.
The farmer wanted to make chicken soup for her, so he 6 the chicken. But she was still not well after eating it, so her friends came to visit her. To serve the guests, the pig ended up on the plate. 7 , the farmer's wife died the next day. Many people came to say goodbye, so the farmer killed the cow to have 8 meat for everyone.
