Li Zhenhai and his wife Jiang Kaizhi are farmers living in the north of China. So far they have planted over 600,000 trees covering over 150 hectares（公顷）.
Li came to Inner Mongolia to visit relatives（亲戚） in 1973. Then he decided to make his home there.From the government, they got more than 3 hectares of land and lived a quiet and comfortable life.
In 1980, a sudden rainslorm washed their land away. With the natural environment becoming worse, he decided to plant trees to prolect the environment. At first, his wife didn't agree with him. But after feeling his strong love for the nature, she chose to stay with him in the mountains and then they started their about 40-year-long journey to plant trees.
At the age of 78, Li still takes care of the forest every morning. What's more, he has given away young trees for free over years. Li has even written about his experience of planting trees to share with the villagers and encourage others to plant more trees. He believes that if every person plants a tree, the desert（沙漠）will become a green land.
