Female giant panda Ya Ya was born at the Beijing Zoo on Aug. 3, 2000. She moved to the Memphis Zoo in April 2003 as an envoy (使者) of friendship China and the US. She was one of (popular) animals in the zoo. According to the Chinese and US sides, Ya Ya returned to China on the afternoon of April 27, 2023 after spending 20 years in the United States.
In February, a Chinese expert group arrived at the Memphis Zoo (check) Ya Ya's health. An animal doctor and a keeper from the Beijing Zoo reached the Memphis Zoo and worked with the experts had arrived earlier to learn some gestures and orders for behavior training. To better raise Ya Ya, they also learned about her living (habit) and feeding conditions from the zoo staff members at Memphis.
Special care (need) for an aging panda, and zoo staff take notes on Ya Ya's diet and (careful) look at her mouth, back, and hands daily. Ya Ya is funny and likes to be close with people. she has a skin disease, the panda is still in good health. She is smart and we believe she will be taken good care of and rest in peace in the new living environment.
Ya Ya (excite) millions of Chinese people since she returned to China. Now her situation is closely followed online. How we hope to have great chance to see Ya Ya in the Beijing Zoo even if we have to wait in line all day long.
