A young woman married a young man from a nearby village. They lived with the man's big family. The family kept an elephant and the woman loved it very much. Every day she fed it with fruit and sugar.
Three months later, the woman had a big fight with her husband and and went back to her parents' home, From then on, the elephant refused （拒绝） to eat and work. It became ill and heartbroken. One morning the animal disappeared from the house.
It went to the woman's home. When it saw her, the elephant waved its trunk and touched her with it. The young woman was so moved by the elephant that she returned to her husband's home.
