Liu Jing will never forget the day when she played music in the University of Cambridge in 2011. She was playing a piece of music which is based on(以……为依据) the novel Dream of the Red Chamber《红楼梦》. The music describes the sad love story between Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu in the novel.
Liu felt strange. After the performance, she asked the woman if she had read the novel. The woman said, But the music touched me very much when you played it with your Chinese musical instruments(乐器).
The experience was one of the reasons that made Liu show the world traditional Chinese music and instruments. Now Liu has made a series of(系列) music videos called"Chinese people's musical instrument"。 People around the world like to watch them.
Among the videos, one is Prelude（序曲）to the Konghou（箜篌——中国古老弹拨乐器）of Li Ping, a short video based on a poem(诗)written by Li He in the Tang Dynasty(朝代).
And she plays her music with a Konghou. It is like a picture shown in a mural(壁画)in the Mogao Grottoes(石窟)in Dunhuang, Gansu Province. Liu also shows pictures of Konghou in the Dunhuang murals in the video.
Many Chinese teachers have chosen to show the video in their classes.
