People in Paris fight (与...作斗争) rats (老鼠) hard. But unhappily, they don't win. Rats are bad for people. Paris does many things to keep them away. People put traps (捕鼠夹) everywhere. They make special garbage bins (垃圾桶) and rats can't go inside. They also make a "rat map". It took Paris a lot of money to fight rats. But uh-oh, there are still a lot of rats in Paris! Why are there so many rats in Paris? Because too much garbage is on the streets. It is rats' favourite. Rats eat the garbage. People in Paris like to feed pigeons (鸽子). They leave (遗留) food on the ground. Rats eat the food. People in Paris fight rats for a long time. But it is difficult to keep rats away because they can have many babies in a short time. A rat can have 22 babies at a time. It can have 2,000 children in a year. Rats are also clever. Some rats can be as clever as an 8-year-old child. They know where the traps are. They "tell" each other to stay away from the traps. |
