Alice fell into a pool of salt water. "I'm now in the sea," she thought. But soon she 1 out the fact. She was in the pool of her tears. "I cried 2 ," she said when she swam about.
Just then, she heard 3 splashing(溅落) about in the pool a little way off. She swam 4 to find what it was. It was a mouse and it fell into the pool 5 her.
"Oh, Mouse, do you know the 6 out of the pool ?" Alice asked. It said nothing. "Maybe it doesn't know English. " thought Alice. "It's a mouse from 7 . " So she said the word "cat"in French. The mouse suddenly jumped out of the water when it heard the word. It trembled(颤抖) all over with fright(惊吓). "I'm sorry," said Alice. "I 8 you didn't like cats. "
"Our family always hate cats !" cried the mouse. "Don't let me hear the name again !"
"I won't," said Alice. "Do you like 9 ? A farmer near my house has a nice little dog. He says it's useful and it kills all the rats and.. . Oh, dear !" cried Alice. "The mouse is 10 ," she thought, for it swam away at once. She was alone again, looking for the way out.
