Welcome to this very special meeting of the Folsom Creek Community Support Group. It's
hard to believe that a month has passed by since the flooding. It feels like yesterday
that my wife and I walked into our house and saw all the damage. We were just standing
there in shock. When two young people from the neighbourhood walked into the yard asking,
how can we help? It was in that spirit that our community support group was formed. Considering
what we've all been through, what has really moved me is people's willingness and desire
to help out their neighbours. However, despite tireless work on the clean-up, there are still
28 families that have not been able to move back into their homes yet. So our focus now
is on raising money to help those families. We are starting next Saturday with a bake
sale which will be held in the yard of the high school at noon, so those interested please
come and see me when we finish here tonight.
