It was Christmas Eve already. Bobby's three sisters had already made beautiful gifts for their mother, but Bobby didn't have any money to buy her mother a present.
Bobby walked along the street. Then, suddenly, he saw a dime (十美分硬币) on the street. But his excitement quickly disappeared because all the salesman told him that he could not buy anything with just a single dime.
He saw a flower shop and went inside to ask the shop owner if he could buy a flower for his mother's Christmas gift. The shop owner (拥有者) smiled and said, "I just happen to have some roses on sale for one dime a dozen (一打). Would you like them?" Of course Bobby bought the roses at once and returned home.
The shop owner's wife asked her husband, "Who are you talking to and where are the roses?"
He answered, "A strange thing happened to me this morning. I heard a voice and the voice told me to keep a dozen of my best roses for a special gift. Then just a few minutes ago, a little boy came into the shop and wanted to buy a flower for her mother with one small dime. When I looked at him, I saw myself. Many years ago, I was a poor boy and could not buy my mother a Christmas gift. A man stopped me on the street and gave me ten dollars. When I saw that little boy tonight, I knew who that voice was, and I put together a dozen of my best roses…"
