One day, Milton Wright saw a small toy helicopter(直升机). He bought this toy for his two 1 sons, Orville and Wilbur, who were both studying in a primary school. Mr. Wright didn't think that this simple act would 2 the creation of the world's first powered airplane. The toy gave the brothers a strong interest in flight(飞行). They soon began trying to 3 similar models by themselves.
When they were older, the Wright brothers4 to make a"small step" to the flight. They wanted to learn more about it. At that time, people's5 on the flight was on hot air balloons and gliders. They continually tried to make these two things better. However, the brothers were interested in something 6 , a heavier flying machine. They first 7 read all the books they could find about flight and they spent a lot of time. Then they used 8 to work out the key to controlling objects in the air.
Over the next three years, the Wright brothers 9 different kinds of gliders and tried to make their own glider. During this time, they worked with engineers Otto Lilienthal and Octave Chanute. These men made important10 on the brothers' work. With their help, the Wright brothers successfully tested the first piloted glider.
