When you're watching cartoons, do you ever wonder how they work? In fact, cartoons are a series of pictures, all a little different to one another, which are shown quickly. They work because the brain can remember an image (图像) for a little longer than it needs. If you show your brain the next image really quickly, your brain thinks that the images are moving. The easiest kind of cartoon is the flip book (翻页书). These are great fun to make, but you will need some patience. A good speed for the cartoon is about 16 pages a second. It does work at 10 pages a second, but the image is less smooth(流畅的).
You will need: some pieces of paper—about 12 cm by 7 cm or a little smaller, drawing materials.
Method:
1. Make sure the paper is lined up like a book.
2. Choose something simple to draw. Maybe start with a ball. Start drawing pictures on the top page, and make sure it has room to "travel".
3. Now draw the image on each of the following pages changing it very a little each time.
4. Once you've finished all the drawings, hold the book in one hand, and flick through the pages quickly using the other hand. If the cartoon is not nice enough, change the drawings until it improves.
