Do you have any dreams? What would you like to be in the future? Some of you might dream of taking positions as a singer or a writer. Some might try to be a doctor or a scientist. However, Zara Rutherford, a student in Brussels, has a great ambition (抱负 ). She wants to become the world's youngest woman to fly around the world alone.
Rutherford's parents are both pilots. Under their influence, the girl fell in love with flying at a young age. She has been learning to fly since she was 14 years old. She got her first flying license in 2020, when she was 17 years.
Rutherford set off from her home city on Aug.18,2021 and finished her flight on Jan.20,2022. She covered 41 different countries on five continents, flying through wildfires, typhoons and dangerous low temperatures to reach her destination(目的地). She not only realized her dream but also made history. During her flight, the young woman met with some of the local girls. She says few pilots in the world are women. She feels sad about this. She wants to encourage more girls to learn flying and love it.
By flying alone around the world, Rutherford wants to set a good example for other girls. Once, she told them, "If you have a dream or a plan, you should go for it. If you don't try, you' ll never know how high you can fly."
