It's seven o'clock in the morning in Chennai, India Lavin always has her morning bath before school. But she doesn't have a bath at home. She has a bath in a small river outside with her best friend, a baby elephant.
Lavin lives at Arignar Anna Zoo with her parents, brothers and sisters. Her father works at the zoo and he is a special keeper for the baby elephants. Lavin is only six years old, but she can control(控制)the elephants and she has a very special friendship with them.
At eight o'clock in the morning, Lavin goes to school, but she doesn't go on the school bus. She rides an elephant to school. After school, Lavin plays football with her elephants.
Now it is the evening, and the baby elephants are tired Lavin sits next to them and sings to them. Sometimes, they all sleep together-friends together in the day and friends together at night.
Fazila is a 14-year-old girl in Kabul, Afghanistan. Her family is not rich and Fazila's life is difficult, but she is happy because she is a student at a school in Kabul.
The school is called "Skateistan" and it's the first skateboarding(滑板)school in Kabul. Skateistan has a big indoor skate park and some classrooms with computers. Children can study English, IT, Maths, Art and Music. There's a special "Back to School" programme for children who are not at sch001. There are separate school days for boys and girls because girls and boys don't do activities together in Afghanistan. And there are also special classes for the disabled(残疾的)children.
After the lessons, there is a 55-minute skateboarding lesson for all the girls in Fazila's class. Now Fazila is very good at skateboarding and she is also a teacher at Skateistan. "Life is hard for me because my family is poor." says Fazila "But when I'm at Skateistan, I'm in a nice place."
A School in Britain
I get up and get dress for school. My school has a uniform-black trousers and shoes, a white shirt and a black and gold tie. The girls wear the same, or they can wear a black skirt.
I don't live far from the school, so l walk there with my friends. Lots of students take the school or their parents drive them to school.
Students all study English, maths and science, and we can choose others. My favorites are arts and IT.
We have 20 minutes for break in the morning and an hour for lunch. Some students bring sandwiches to school for lunch, hut my friends and I often eat in the dinning room.
Lessons end at 4 o'clock, but on Mondays and Wednesdays I stay at school until 5 o'clock. I go to the Chess Club and Basketball Club. There are lots of clubs and activities at our school.
A. Activities after school B. School clothes C. Free time between lessons D School subjects E. Homework F. The way to go to school |
