Once a little boy found a caterpillar(蝴蝶幼虫).One day the caterpillar climbed up a stick and started to create a cocoon(茧). His mother told him the caterpillar was going to go through a(n) 1 and become a butterfly.
The little boy watched every day, waiting for the coming out of the butterfly. One day it happened, a small hole 2 in the cocoon and the butterfly started to struggle(挣扎)to come out. At first the boy was 3, but soon he became worried. The butterfly was struggling so hard. But it looked like it was making no 4. Hoping to see it out, the boy decided to help. He cut the cocoon with scissors to make the hole 5 and the butterfly quickly flew out!

As you go through school life, keep in mind that struggling is an important part of any experience for growth. It is the struggle that cause us to develop our ability to fly.
Traveling can be a fun way to gain life experiences, But you're a student and don't have enough money for a trip. Don't worry. Here are some useful suggestions.
Save: This probably is the most important preparation for traveling. Cut expenses to fatten your wallet so you'll have more choices about where to go and how to get there.
Plan ahead: Don't wait until the last minute to plan your trip. Tickets may cost more when bought on short notice. Giving yourself several months to get ready can mean security and savings.
Do your homework: No matter where you go, research the places you will visit. Decide what to see. Travel books will provide information on the cheapest hotels and restaurants.
Plan wisely: Write down how much you expect to spend for food and hotels. Stick to your plan or you may not have enough money to cover everything.
Travel in groups: Find someone who is interested in visiting the same places. By traveling with others you can share costs and experiences.
Work as you go: Need more money to support your trip? Look for work in the places you visit.
Be away from tourist cities: Tourist cities may be expensive. You may want to rethink your trip and go to a lesser-known area. Smaller towns can have many interesting activities and sights.
By planning sensibly, even students can enjoy the travel. Your travel experiences will be remembered for a lifetime.
Any introduction to Peking Opera would not be complete without telling of Mei Lanfang. During his stage life, he combined(融合) the traditions of the past with his own creations, creating a style of his own and giving birth to "The Mei Lanfang School". He was also the first artist to introduce Peking Opera to foreigners, winning international fame(名声)in the globe. For half a century, Mei Lanfang was a household name in China.
Mei Lanfang began his stage life at the age of 8. His teacher said he showed little hope because of his boring eyes. To improve this, he exercised them day after day. He would fly kites and look at them moving slowly in a blue sky. He also kept pigeons in order to look at them flying higher and higher until they disappeared into the clouds. Thanks to his efforts, he managed to change his dull eyes into a pair of bright and expressive eyes and win national fame before the age of 20.
In over 50 years on the stage, Mei Lanfang played no less than 100 different characters in the traditional Peking Opera performance(表演). He completely changed both stage make-up and costumes, and made characters' performance. He also wrote many new plays, designing the dances himself. They are part of the great legacy(遗赠) that he left to Peking Opera.
In 1930, Mei Lanfang started on a successful US tour. There his great performances fascinated the audience, making them realize that Peking Opera was a most valuable form of art.
I had an old neighbour, a doctor named Gibbs. When Doctor Gibbs wasn't saving lives, he was planting trees. He had some interesting ideas about planting trees. He hardly watered his new trees.
Once I asked why and he told me that watering plants made them grow weaker. He said he had to make things difficult for the trees so that only the strongest could survive. He talked about how watering trees made them develop shallow roots and how, if they were not watered, trees would grow deep roots in search of water.
So, instead of watering his trees every morning, he'd beat them with a rolled up newspaper. I asked him why he did that, and he said it was to get the trees' attention.
Doctor Gibbs died a couple of years after I left home. Sometimes I walked by his house and looked at the trees I'd watched him plant 25 years ago. They were tall and strong.
I planted several trees myself a few years ago. Two years of caring for these trees meant they grew up weakly. Every time a cold wind blew, my trees shook. Adversity seemed to be good for Doctor Gibb's trees, they could never relax.
Every night before I go to bed, I check on my two sons. I often pray(祈祷)that their lives will be easy. But lately I've been thinking that it's time to change my prayer. I know my children are going to experience difficulties. There's always a cold wind blowing somewhere. What we need to do is to pray for deep roots, so when the rains fall and the winds blow, we won't be separated.
People have understood that kindness is good for the person who receives help. For example, when we give food to a hungry person, he is lucky. However, scientists have recently begun to study the effect(影响)of the kindness on the person giving it. What they have found is that doing good is good for the doer(行为者).Acts of kindness can improve health, help a person reach goals and even add years to a person's life.
The first study to show the connection between doing good and living a long life was a study on aging(衰老). Beginning in 1956, scientists studied a group of married mothers for 30 years. They thought the women with the most children would die first. But the number of children a woman had did not matter. Wealth did not matter. Education did not matter. What did matter was whether they volunteered. Women that volunteered had fewer diseases during their life.
Many other studies have found the same positive(积极的)effects. Helping other people improves long-term health. The gains are the same for men, women, old people and the young. Those who volunteered had fewer serious diseases than those who did not volunteer. This included diseases such as heart attack, cancer and stroke.
Scientists are studying many possible causes. One possible cause is an increase in antibodies(抗体),which help fight against disease. One study showed the body produces more antibodies after an act of kindness.
Another one is an increase in Oxytocin(催生素),it is a chemical that fights the effects of stress from life. Scientists have found a link between being kind to people and an increase in the chemical oxytocin.
A: You look worried, Peter.
B: I am, Mr. Li. I'm having trouble learning English.
A: You said you liked English.
B: I can't get the pronunciation right.
A: Well, listening can help. You can listen to them at home and repeat the sentences that are difficult for you.
B: That's a good idea. But what about all the new words?
A: You can write the new words in your notebook and study them at home. You can even study on the train on the way to school.
B: That might really help! Thanks.
A: Can you understand when people talk to you?
B: Well, no. Not always. Sometimes I just don't understand what people are saying.
A: Why don't you join an English language club to practice speaking English?
B: Maybe I'll go. The only other problem I have is that I don't get much writing practice.
A: Maybe you should find a pen friend.
B: Thanks Mr. Li.
A. Do you learn English by watching videos?

It is important to have good learning habits if you want to study, and this is especially true when it comes to online learning.
Online learning is a process different from what you will find in a traditional school. The learning environment and methods are different.
When studying in a classroom, there is a lot of communication between the students and the teacher, but little interaction(互动)among the students, while online learning helps one student and another to interact very seriously and closely. So one of an online professor's roles is to encourage students to interact. Another is to guide discussion, it isn't the same as teachers do in a classroom.
So how can you develop good learning habits in online learning? Here are some good suggestions. First, it is a good idea to prepare well for online learning. You can write down daily tasks and even weekly tasks that you want to complete. By doing so, you will have a good plan for achieving your goals. Second, you should spend as much time online as if you were going to regular courses. Also, always try to leave extra time to communicate with other students.
Besides this, any post(帖子) you put up online shows who you are. So hand in your homework on time so that you don't fall behind.
