Lionel Andres Messi is one of the greatest football stars in the world.
Messi was (出生) in Rosario, Argentina on June 24,1987. His father was a (工人) and mother was a part-time cleaner. He has two (兄弟) and a sister. At the age of five, Messi started playing football for a local club. He practiced (七) hours or more each day. He was (充满) of energy and ran fast. He soon showed great talent in playing football.

Young people and older people sometimes have different (看法) on work and life. But last month in one special program in New York State, teenagers and adults lived together and. (影响) each other in a friendly way.
Each summer 200 teenagers and adults live and work together for eight weeks as a group. Everyone works several hours each day. Lots of vegetables and fruit,(种植) on the farms, (包括) carrots, tomatoes and apples. Teenagers learn to (修理) things like tables and chairs with the help of the adults.
When people live together, rules are (必要的). In this program the teenagers and the adults make the rules together and follow the rules together. Also, they make a (协议) to decide everything together. If they have a problem in living or working, they will discuss it and work it out. Sometimes, adults are (明智的) than teenagers in solving problems, but teenagers have quicker mind.
One of the teenagers says about his experience, "we stop thinking only about (我们自己). We learn to think about the (整个的) group."
Stephen Hawking, the best-known scientist if his time, passed away on (三月)14, 2018.
Hawking was born in Britain in 1942. In 1959, he entered Oxford University and then went to Cambridge University for (深远的) study. At the age of 21, he suffered from a terrible (疾病)called AlS. He had to sit in a wheelchair.
(尽管) Hawking was really sick, he never gave up studying the universe. He used every new day that life (提供) to continue his study. He said, "Where there is life, there is hope."
Hawking's health condition continued to get (更糟). He lost his voice in 1985, and had to communicate through a computer. But he (设法做成) to make series of important discoveries in (物理). He also wrote some best selling science books (成功地), such as A Brief History of Time and The Universe in a Nutshell.

There was an English speaking (比赛) in our province last year. I (参加) it because the top five students could visit Beijing for free. Visiting Beijing was one of my (梦想). I told myself I must take the chance. I began to (准备) for it from the day when my English teacher told me the news. First, I (写) about what kind of person I wanted to be. My English teacher helped me correct it. Second, I remembered it and practised speaking it every day. Third, I (邀请) my friends and teachers to listen to my speech. They gave me some good (建议).
After two months' hard work, I won the third (奖项). I was so proud of myself. Then the next month, two teachers and a (导游) took us to Beijing by train. We saw many (古老的) buildings. We had fun at Happy Valley and ate many kinds of Beijing snacks. I really had a good time in Beijing.

As a student, books play an important role in our life. As Gorky once said, “Books are the ladder of human progress.” Then which book is your favorite?
As a book lover, my favorite book is Robinson Crusoe. This book is (写)by Daniel Defoe, and it has already (影响)lots of students like me. Every time I read it, I see a tall and strong image of Robinson. The (整个的)book tells the stories of his adventures and courage. He is such a brave man that I(钦佩) him so much. When Robinson was young, he dreamt of sailing on the sea day and night. Unfortunately, after his grown up, he (实际上)lived on a desert island for twenty-eight years. He(经受)a lot. But the idea of up(放弃)never came to his mind. During these years, he had to endure hunger, fight against (自然的)disasters, and overcome many (困难). But the great man went out of the desert island at last because of his fighting (精神), and hard-working attitude. That story encouraged me deeply. Our life cannot be lucky all the time. But no pains no gains. And only hard work can lead us to a better life.
Lucy is a very(善良)girl. She is always willing to help people who have(困难). Now Lucy is (学习)in the University of Texas. At the same time, she is(志愿)to teach at Heart House in her free time. Heart House is a local after-school program for children. It (提供)some extra for those children who are not doing well in their studies.
Lucy goes to Heart House to teach the children twice a week. She also(建立) up a website for Heart House. In this way, more people will have more chances(机会) to learn about Heart House and help the children there.
Because of Lucy's website, every week 125 volunteers spend about four hours(和) the children at Heart House now. "(没有) Lucy's website, Heart House would be(不能) to have enough volunteers. I get such a strong feeling of(满意)." The program leader says.
"I feel happy to teach those kids how to study. The happiest thing is that I can also learn a lot from them, too. I won't give up volunteering after I leave school. I hope to keep teaching kids who need help. "Lucy says.
