When I was a little child, I was afraid of hears. Later, I was a teenager, we made a car trip from Oregon to Minnesota. We camped along the way. I to sleep in the car rather than in our tent, because I thought a car was than a tent. One night we stopped in a campground. I woke early the next morning while my friends were still in the tent. I got out of the car and headed for the restroom. On the way right in front of me was a huge , looking right at me. It was at least 12 feet tall I cried, turned and ran back to the car. I could never forget it!
On the way home we drove Yellowstone Park. Bears were everywhere along the road. There were lots of cars, so we were driving very , sometimes stopped. The bears came right up to our cars to ask for food. I them through the car window. I wasn't afraid of the bear any more.
Later I found something about bear attacks(攻击). 1900 and 2003 there were 52 human died because of bear attacks, while more than 300 people were killed every year by dogs. However, most of us are more bears. In fact, bears need human kindness. It's time for us to start caring about wildlife, particularly(尤其)bears.
In the USA, many children need a carpool. A carpool is good for children who live far away from school and their schools do don't have school buses.
Parents are often busy and they don't have enough time to drive their children to school every day. So they come up with a new idea. They use a carpool. That means that a group of students share a car and they go to school by car. There are usually four or five kids in a carpool. Their parents take turns driving the kids in their cars."
Getting to school in a carpool is convenient for parents and students. Students can get to school easily if they choose to go in a carpool. What's more, it can help their parents save a lot of time and money.
Teamwork is really important in the carpool because nobody wants to make the others late for class. If you sit in the car and wait for a classmate for a long time, you'll "probably get a little angry. But your carpool friends might feel the same way you keep them waiting.
It's a great lesson in responsibility that you learn before school starts-in the carpool.

“All right." said the man. "No matter what you ask for, I'll give you. "The magician took the boy into a secret room. He wrote something on a piece of paper, and then gave it to the boy. Should mobile phones be allowed at school?
Some mobile phones are more than just phones-they are being used as radios, cameras and MP4 players, and they are also used to send e-mails or surf the Internet.
People have different ideas about whether students should use mobile phones at school or not, If their parents have something important to tell then, they can call their teachers for help. If someone's mobile phone rings during a Chinese class, he and his classmates can't concentrate on what the teacher is saying. Some parents also point out that their children often use their mobile phones to download(下载) unhealthy information from the Internet.
Other people believe that we can find some ways to use mobile phones to help students learn better in the classroom, since many of today's mobile phones are like mini computers. And children usually know more than adults about how to use new technology.
What are your answers to the question?
A. They are really worried about this. B. Some of them can even be used as mini computers. C. More and more students are using mobile phones at school now. D. Why not use mobile phones in the classroom? E. Some people think that students don't really need mobile phones. |
Do foreigners find online shopping fun or painful? Some of my foreign friends have shared their online shopping stories with me.
Ari James(the US)
One of the first things I was told about China is Taobao. When I arrived in Nanjing, it didn't take me a long time to start buying things from Taobao. I bought bags, shoes and many other things.
Christine(Australia)
I've been shopping online for nearly three years. Now I'm completely in love with Taobao. I can find almost everything I want on it. It took me a long time to get used to online shopping, since most online shops serve Chinese people. But as soon as I got the knack(诀窍), online shopping became quite easy.
Barbara Gordon(the US)
I've only used Taobao a few times. Compared with website like Amazon, Taobao is worse. You have to be very careful about what you will buy in order to avoid scams(诈骗). If Taobao can try harder to fight against online scams, it'll be more successful.
Lindy(Canada)
I can't stop shopping on Taobao! I often search for what I want through Taobao of a whole day! I'm so crazy about traditional Chinese gifts. I won't miss this year's shopping day.

In northern Scotland there is a long, deep lake called Loch Ness. More than 200 meters deep, it is the largest lake in the UK. People say a big monster(怪兽)lives in its dark, cold waters. 1t weighs more than 1,000 kilos and is at least ten meters long. Some people say it has a head like a horse. Others say it looks like a snake. Many people travel to loch Ness to look for this strange monster, but only a few people have seen it. At least, they say they have seen it.
The Loch Ness Monster is a famous legend(传说). The first story about a monster in loch Ness was told over 500 years ago, but the legend of the monster spread widely only in the twenties century. In 1933, a husband and wife reported that they saw a big monster in Loch Ness. Several people had taken photos, but at least one of them was a hoax. During the 1960s, a team was formed to look for the monster. They took many, but they were never able to find a monster, photos and made movies.
There is no real fact that a monster lives in Loch Ness, but there is also no fact that one doesn't live. One thing is true about loch Ness: there are a lot of tourists there.
