Most parents send Care packages(包裹)and gifts to their Children when they're away at university. Terri Cox, from Leonardtown, Maryland, isn't one of those 1.
A few weeks ago, Terri sent her son 18-year-old Connor, who's now 2 at Westminster College in Pennsylvania, a package. 3 Connor first got the package, he thought it was a usual gift filled with necessities(必需品).
"I was 4 because it's like Christmas when you get gifts from 5 especially when you're in College," he said. But as Connor 6 the package, he found the things inside were quite different from what he had 7 It wasn't a gift or a Care package. It was something he'd 8 while at home for the Christmas Break- his rubbish.
The box was filled with trash(垃圾)-everything he was too 9 to take out when his mother had asked him to over Christmas.
In fact, Connor didn't do all of his 10 at home at all. So Mom Terri got the idea to post his rubbish to him to 11 him. Connor didn't understand 12 his mom did this to him until he gave her a Call." 13 isn't usually strict, and I didn't see this as a Big punishment(惩罚). It was more of a(n)14 reminder(提醒)that I have duties(职责). And we have a good laugh on the phone," he said.
Connor later said that the rubbish he had 15 in the Box was only a part of what he was asked to take out. Where was the rest? They were hidden in his Bedroom drawers(抽屉).
Thinking what happens to rubbish if left for a long time, let's hope Terri find the rest fast.
Toby was a 13-year-old Boy. He studied in a middle school in Paris. He was quite a Clever Boy and was good at almost everything. However, he had a problem. He had a fear(恐惧)of heights. This problem made him unhappy for a long time. He talked to his father about it one day.
"I've had enough, Dad," he said." I would love to go rock Climbing with my friends. But every time I get too high, I feel afraid."
His dad paused(停顿)as he thought about his son's ________
"Well, Toby," he said quietly," I Can help you. But you will need to Be Brave. Are you ready?"
Toby was quiet for a few minutes.
"I am ready!" he answered bravely.
Toby's father picked up the keys and walked towards the front door.
"We're going into the City!" his father said.
Toby knew what was coming. Toby lived in Paris. One of the world's tallest buildings was there. That was the Eiffel Tower. Nothing was said between them as they drove into the City.
After about an hour, they arrived at the Eiffel Tower. Toby looked up at it.
"Can I really do this?" he asked worriedly.
"Well," his father said," I will be with you every step of the way. This is the day that you fight your fear! Come on!"
Toby took a Breath. His father held his hand and then they made their way, step by step, towards the top of the Eiffel Tower. At last they got to the top.
"Wow, Dad!" he said excitedly as he looked over Paris.
"I told you there was nothing to worry about," his father said.
When throwing away rubbish, do you know which Bin it should go in? Have you ever noticed the differently-colored Bins on the street?
Some of you might not be able to answer this question. However, it's actually quite important to know how to sort your waste. Not knowing how to sort waste can make it harder to save energy and protect the environment.
If you don't sort your waste, all of it will go to a landfill and Be Buried(埋) together. These landfills can take up large areas of ground that could have Been used for planting trees or Crops. The electronic waste you throw away, such as Batteries, Can pollute the soil and groundwater. Other pieces of waste, like the metal part of a pen, can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.
With this in mind, many Cities in China have Been running waste-sorting Campaigns (活动)in recent years. For example, Shanghai announced in July that within three years, all of its residents(居民)should sort their waste into four groups wet, recyclable, harmful and dry.
"Wet" waste is also known as household waste." They are things you don't want but that pigs can eat," Guangzhou Daily explained. Paper, metal, glass and other things that Can Be reused are recyclable waste.
Harmful waste includes things like medicine, Batteries and fluorescent Bulbs. Finally, any waste that's not wet, recyclable or harmful will go in the" dry waste" bin.
Many other Chinese Cities, including Shenzhen, plan to use this method to sort their garbage. Now that you know this, perhaps you can do your part to protect the environment and encourage others to sort their waste.
Some people think that success is only for those with talent or those who grow up in the right family, and others Believe that success mostly Comes down to luck. I'm not going to say luck, talent, and Circumstances(境遇)don't Come into play because they do. Some people are born into the right family while others are Born with great intelligence, and that's just the reality of how life is.
However, to succeed in life, one first needs to set a goal and then make it more practical. And, vesides that, in order to get really good at something, one needs to spend at least 10, 000 hours studying and practising. To vecome great at certain things, it'll require even more time, which most people won't put in.
This is a big reason why many successful people advise you to do something you love. If you don't enjoy what you do, it is going to feel like unbearable pain and will likely make you give up before you ever become good at it.
When you see people exhibiting some great skills or having achieved great success, you know that they have put in a huge part of their life to get there. It's sometimes easy to think they got lucky or they were Born with some unusual talent, But thinking that way does you no good, and there's a huge Chance that you're wrong anyway.
No matter what you do, if you want to Become great at it, you need to work day in and day out, almost to the point of addiction(入迷), and over a long period of time. If you're not willing to put in the time and work, don't expect to receive any rewards. Hard work won't guarantee(保证)you the level of success you may want, But it will guarantee that you will Become really good at whatever it is you put all that work into.

With today's Busy lifestyles, many parents want to (花)more" quality" time with their Children But what is" quality time"? It's time spent doing an (活动)that is meaningful to the parents and Child. It's time when family members really get to know each other.
Much of the Child's Basic learning takes place when the family members are together doing usual things, such as watching movies and talking about (日常的)life. Children need to know they are loved. The Cry of Children today is," Love me for who I am, not what I do. Love me for who I am, (甚至)when I am naughty." This does not mean that you (允许)the Child to do everything. What it does mean is that (尽管)the Child Behaves Badly, you still love him. By living in a family, Children learn to (分享), how to stand up for their (自己的) rights, and how to love another person.
Children learn about trust(信任)at home from their parents. When parents trust the Child to do something by himself or herself, the Child learns that he can do it. To help Children grow well, parents should help (他们)learn about life.
