I'd like to tell you something about my trip. First, we landed in Cape Town and took a taxi to our new friend Richard's house. We 1 there for a few nights. We did some cool things. We visited a bird and monkey park and saw many kinds of African 2 there.
After 3 some time with Richard and his daughter, we left them to go to a place called Grootbos. 4 we were there, we saw my dad's friend Michael and we had supper together. We had fun5 Michael and staying at Grootbos. The food there was great. We really enjoyed 6. The next morning, we went to see whales and we got really 7 because we saw twelve of them. One pair came right up to the boat and rolled over on top of each other.
From Grootbos we 8 to Cape Town to meet our friends who came to visit us on their vacation. We were both so 9 to have friends from home coming to 10 us in Africa. We spent a few days with them. It was very cool visiting Grootbos with them.
Now we are going Oil Safari. I'll tell you about that later.
In Western countries, many children do chores to get pocket money. They usually start to do this when they are 10 years old. School students have to do homework and study for tests. They don't have a lot of free time on weekdays. They often do the chores at the weekend. Young kids only do easy chores. So they don't get much money. But that's all right. Many of them only want to buy candy. And candy is cheap. They help do the dishes after dinner, and feed the family cat or dog.
When kids get older, they want to buy more expensive things. Then they have to work harder! They often wash the family car, cut the grass, walk the dog or cook dinner.
Some jobs are a good way for kids to learn new things. For example, they can learn to use a lawn mower(割草机)or how to cook. Of course, their parents help them at first.
Robots seem very new to some people, but in fact they have a long history. The first robot was made by a Greek inventor(发明家). You may often see robots in lots of movies. The robots in the movies are stronger, faster and cleverer than people. In real life, most robots are used in factories. They are used to do many dangerous, difficult or boring jobs. Some people can't look after themselves and robots are used to help them. For example, some people can't see. They use dogs to help themselves move around. These dogs are called guide dogs. Scientists are making robots to help them. In the future, robot dogs might take the place of these guide dogs.
Robots are also used in American hospitals. At one hospital, a robot takes meals from the kitchen to the sick people's rooms. It never loses its way because it has a map of the hospital in its computer system(系统).
In the future, robots will work in space. Robots will never take the place of humans, though they can help us in a lot of different ways.
Every time when I look at the moon, I wish I could go there. Do you wish you could fly to the moon in a spaceship one day?
For hundreds of years, men have wanted to travel to the moon. When they looked at the moon, they asked many questions. Was the moon hot or cold? Were there any plants or other living things there? There were many, many other questions.
We know much about the moon now. Scientists have studied the moon for many years and have found out many facts. So far, some men have got to the moon on spaceships.
Scientists have found that the moon is much smaller than the earth. It is about one quarter the size of the earth. It is traveling round the earth all the time. There are not any plants or other living things on the moon, because there is no air or water there.
Days and nights on the moon are very long. One day on the moon is as long as two weeks on the earth. One night is also as long as two weeks on the earth. In the day the moon is very hot. At night it is very cold. The moon is much hotter and much colder than the earth.
There is another surprising thing. On the moon things are not as heavy as they are on the earth. Isn't that interesting? Perhaps one day we can all travel to the moon. It must be great fun.
Do you want to know what our life will be like in the future? Let's have a look. You may get a surprise.
You will go to the kitchen when you are hungry. You will give orders to the kitchen robot. The robot will find a special food for you in a few minutes. Then it will bring it to you.
In the kitchen you will find a special food machine. The food machine will tell you what your body needs. It will help you eat healthily. The food machine will be connected with (连接) the kitchen robot. The robot can get messages from the food machine.
After having a meal, you can go to your home office. You will work at home and you don't need to go out to work anymore. You will have a special information screen. When you receive a message from a friend in America, your information screen will be turned on automatically(自动地). Your friend's face appears on the screen. Then you can talk to your friend easily.
Everyone knows that exercise is important. It makes your heart and body strong. But you need to know the following: Get your body ready!
Before you do any exercise, make sure to warm up for at least five minutes. During warming up you should stretch(伸展)all parts of your body. Exercise enough, but not too much.
It's best to exercise twice each week. Thirty minutes each time is enough. Try all kinds of things until you find one, two or even three sports that feel right for you.
Exercise at fitness centres.
There are a lot of equipments(设备) at fitness centres. The equipments will help exercise your arms, legs and other parts of your body to make you fit. Some people buy equipments for their homes. But it is very expensive. Stop playing when you are hurt!
If you get hurt when you are doing exercise, don't play again until you are well. Don't get thirsty!
Drink a lot when you are playing sports because it is easy to become thirsty.
