Our country used to be very poor in technology, but great changes have taken place these years. Lots of our technology is much better than those of foreign countries. High-speed railway technology is one example.
We learned about high-speed railway technology from foreign countries, but now we have mastered(掌握)and developed the key technology. Our high-speed railway technology is advanced. It can not only have a high speed but also be used in different environment and the cost is lower.
China Railway Corp (CRC) is fully prepared to sell a full supply of high -speed railway technology. The company said selling of railway technology and building railways for other countries are going very well, and progress is being made in a number of countries. We have a major advantage. We are able to sell whole railway technology. It isn't very good to buy some technology from one country and other technology from another.
The selling plan for our high-speed railway technology will follow the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (一带一路).
Like the US-made Boeing 737 and France's Airbus, our high-speed railway technology could be an important project to help sell our technology in the future.
Around the world, people have different traditional foods to celebrate different festivals. Traditional foods also show a new year of good luck and good health: An English Christmas dinner has a meal of turkey, and it also includes pies and plum puddings (李子布丁). In Germany, Christmas is celebrated with bread, cookies and cakes, which are made like Christmas trees. In France, Christmas dessert is a cake filled with butter cream. In southern parts of India, there is a three-day festival in mid-January called Pongal. It includes rice and a dish of rice cooked with sugar that is shared with families and friends. Japan celebrates New Year with a seven-day festival. It begins from January 1st. Food is prepared before the festival so people don't need to cook during the festival. On New Year's Day, various dishes called Osechi ryori (御节料理) are served—each dish is a wish for the New Year. In most Asian countries, the New Year begins with the first full moon of the first Chinese lunar (阴历的) month. Each place has its special food to welcome the coming year. People in China prepare their food ahead of time to avoid the possibility that using a knife during New Year's time might "cut luck"; foods with lucky names are popular, such as fish, which sounds like "surplus(多余)".
Bill was a boy of 15. His parents went gambling (赌博) all day and all night. Nobody cared about him. He couldn't pass the exams. So his teachers didn't like him, neither did his classmates play with him.
Bill often slept in class because his heart was not in school. He almost gave himself up.
One day, Miss Jones, a new teacher, came to Bill's class. She was a loving and beautiful woman. Bill was in love! For the first time in his young life, he couldn't take his eyes off his teacher.
It was Miss Jones' class. She was asking a question. "I'd like the smartest boy to answer my question." Then she said loudly, "Bill, please!"
Bill was surprised. And he stood up without a word.
"Just try it! I believe you can!"
After school, Miss Jones had a long talk with Bill. She told him that she cared about him and believed in him.
Bill thought a lot that evening. From then on he arrived at school on time every day. Miss Jones helped him with his homework in the afternoon. She even cooked delicious food for him. She told Bill, "Nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it."
Later, Miss Jones gave them another exam. Bill did it with all his heart. He was very amazed to find that he had passed the exam. Now Bill discovered that not only could he learn, but also he could do it well. A change took place in Bill's heart.
You see that one teacher saved one boy. It's really simple.

Do you know the changes of life in China? Hundreds of years ago, life was much simpler than it is today. People didn't have modern machines, and they had no time or money to enjoy leisure (休闲) activities. Many children couldn't get an education.
However, things have changed greatly since China's reform and opening—up in the 1980s.
Thanks to the government's efforts, people's living conditions have improved a lot now. People can enjoy longer holidays and get more incomes(收入). So they have more chances to relax themselves and live a colorful life. They move into tall and bright buildings. Most children study in schools with new classrooms and modern teaching equipment (设备). After school, they can also take part in club activities or play sports. Communications are becoming easier and quicker. People use telephones, cellphones, QQ, fax machines, Wechat (微信) and the Internet to keep in touch with each other. Sending a message to your friends far away only takes you several seconds. Because of these modern inventions(发明), our life is becoming much more convenient than before.
