Long time ago, there was a contented king called Claudio, who never seemed to be sad and upset. All the people that ever met him thought everything was 1 in his world. No one knew the reason of the king's happiness was from his evening 2. Every night, the chef prepared king's favorite food—pizza for him.
A musician tried to please the king. Since he failed to do so with his playing, he tried 3 way. He said, "My daughter can turn animals into clothing." The king didn't respond.
The musician continued, "She can change 4 into diamond."
"Now, that is the best 5 to my ears. I shall see this girl's 6 for myself tomorrow!" Immediately, King Claudio asked his servants to 7 every tree in the country.
Early the next morning, the King told the girl, "8 by tomorrow morning you have not changed wood into diamond, you shall die."
On the third day, the king saw the diamond in surprise. Greed (贪婪) 9 in his heart. "This girl can do everything!" he thought. So he asked people to gather all the water and let the girl turn the water into silver.
At daybreak of the fourth day, the king got lots of silver. He then ordered his servants to get all the wheat. "If you can change this wheat into gold," he 10 the girl, "I shall set you free."
Sure enough, the girl made it for the third time. Then she ran away as 11 as she could, wondering what would happen later.
On the evening of that day, King Claudio could hardly wait for his 12 dinner. Instead, the chef said, "I'm 13. Your Highness. But you used up all the trees that I needed for the oven fire. You used up all the water and wheat that I needed to 14 the pizza. There can be no more pizza!
King Claudio, in spite of his gold, silver, and diamond, did not 15 a smile on his face ever after.

Once upon a time, there was a man with a fine house healthy animals and fertile land. He was also blessed with a handsome, loving son. But the man was worried about his son, because the boy had grown up knowing only good times and good fortune (命运). "What will happen when something goes wrong for him?" wondered his father. "How will he know what to do?"
So one day, the man asked the boy to go into the forest and collect wood. To help him carry the wood home, the man gave the boy an old cart (手推车) and two horses. As he was leaving, the man said to his son, "If the cart breaks down while you are in the forest, don't worry. Necessity will teach you what to do."
The boy collected as much wood as he could load onto the cart. But when he turned to come home, the cart broke under the weight of the wood. "I hope that father's friend lives nearby," thought the boy, and he started crying out, "Necessity! NE-CESS-ITY! Where are you?" The boy called and called, but no one came so he decided to fix the cart himself.
When he arrived home he said to his father, "You said Necessity would teach me to fix the cart, but I couldn't find him anywhere. I had to fix it all by myself."
The man smiled to himself and thought, "Necessity really is the best teacher."
At the beginning of November, the 35th Chinese Antarctic expedition (南极科考队) set off for the polar region. This time, one of their main tasks is to build China's first permanent (永久的) Antarctic airport, Science and Technology Daily reported.
There are more than 20 airports in Antarctica, according to Global Times. But none of them belong to China. China's polar plane Xueying 601 has to take off and land at Russian airports.
The new airport will help Chinese aircraft take off and land in the South Pole. This will make it easier to transport scientific equipment and do research, Zhang Xia from the Polar Research Institute of China told Global Times.
In order to be environmentally friendly, the airport will be small, said Sun Bo, leader of the research team. It is much smaller than the usual airports in our cities.
However, this doesn't make it easy to build the airport.
The site of the airport is an ice cap 28 kilometers away from Zhongshan Antarctic Station, Xinhua noted. An ice cap is a thick layer (层) of ice. It covers the land like a quilt. But this "quilt" is always moving Scientists have to find the slowest-moving part of the cap. You can hardly notice the movement of the ice in this area.
The next problem is the snow. The snow on the ice cap can be very thick. Also, it is as soft as cotton, which makes it hard to build a runway for airplanes. Scientists have to use a snow blower (吹雪机) to get rid of the snow on top of the cap. Them, they compact (压紧) the rest of the snow with a road roller-like machine. This way, the snow will be strong and hard enough to build a runway on top of.
It's not like Talia Randle grew up dreaming of being the fastest grocery (食品杂货店) bagger in the West.
But when the 17-year-old university student started her first job this summer as a clerk at Metropolitan Market in Washington, US, her natural skills appeared according to store manager Glen Hasstedt, her coach.
Hasstedt has trained four Washington State Best Baggers. He said every great bagger has a few key talents.
"They have to be fast, have great hand-eye coordination (协调能力) and be competitive and focused." Hasstedt said.
Randle said bagging seemed natural to her and within a week of starting, co-workers were commenting on her speed.
"I enjoy it," Randle said. "Heavy things should be on the bottom, and everything should be standing up. It's a little bit like Tetris (俄罗斯方块) or a puzzle."
To represent Metropolitan Market at state level, competitors first have to be the winner in their store. They then compete against the best baggers in each of the company's five other local stores.
In bagging contests, competitors are asked to place a number of items into a certain number of paper bags.
Judging is based on four criteria (标准): how fast the items are bagged, whether the bags are filled in such a way that items inside remain standing when placed on a table, how evenly (平均地) the weight is distributed among the bags and whether the bagger has a good attitude.
In some contests, judges slice away (撕开) one side of the paper bags to make sure items remain standing. Hasstedt said. They're also looking to see if the bags are too full for a customer to pick up with on hand, he said.
Randle was a favorite to win the state competition. But once there, she was up against several very experienced competitors and had to deal with a loud audience that almost made her nervous.
"There were people wearing cow bells and yelling," she said. "It was loud."
That's where Hasstedt's mantra (原则) of "just stay focused and don't let things distract you" came into play, she said.
But Randle did what her coach told her and ended up winning the state title, filling three bags in 47 seconds.

Do you find it hard to wake up on time every morning? Are you often for school? If so, you may need a more effective alarm clock.
While there are thousands of alarm apps, SpinMe might be one the most useful ones. You cannot turn its alarm off just by pressing a button. The only way to turn it off is to up and spin (旋转) around while holding your phone in your hands. And no, spinning the phone while lying on your bed. There is no other to turn it off. What makes this clock more fun is that you can pick your favorite music for it. Maybe it can help you get up on time.

People kites for at least two thousand years. Kites are fun to fly, but did you know there are also practical reasons to fly them? It that, in 1750, Benjamin Franklin flew a kite in a thunderstorm to verify that lightning was electricity. The Wrights brothers tested many of their aviation theories by flying early airplane designs as kites. This allowed them to experiment different wing shapes and controls from the ground before their first flight in 1903.
No matter why you fly kites, attention to the weather for good kite-flying conditions. The wind should be between 5 and 25 miles per hour. It should be neither too calm nor too strong. Don't fly a kite when it . It's better an open space. Don't let your kite be eaten by a tree or bump into people, buildings or power lines.

But people's attitudes toward hugging can also change.
