For many people of Norway(挪威), skiing(滑雪) is the best way to have fun in winter. Almost everyone can ski. Children learn to ski after they learn to walk. Long, long ago in Norway, there were no buses, trains or cars. People had to find a way to walk over the deep snow. Skis were the right answer!
Although they love winter, the people of Norway are also happy to see summer come. They enjoy the out-door activities at any time of the year. In summer they swim and sunbathe near the beach. Some people go hiking and go mountain climbing. Sail-boating is also very popular during the warm sunny summer months.
The Norwegians(挪威人), like people everywhere, find many in-door ways to have a good time. During the long winter they also enjoy movies. They like to read books from the libraries in all seasons. Family life is very important to the people of Norway.

Mike Moore has visited China more than 20 times since his first visit in 1984. In his eyes, the change(改变) of means (方式) of transportation(运输系统) in Chinese cities could show the great changes that have taken place in the past years.
"My first impression (印象) of China was: thousands of people in blue or green uniforms on bikes in the cities. About 15 years later, you saw many people on motors. Another five years later, you see more private (私人的) cars, in different colors," he said.
"Now you can see all kinds of cars in Chinese cities, no difference with other big cities in the world," he added.
"So first bikes, then motors, and now all kinds of cars, you can feel the great changes that have happened in China in the past few years," said the former WTO chief.
Moor described himself as a 'China fan'. He said that Chinese people now became more confident (自信的), happier and healthier than before and the environment quality in big cities has been improved.
He believed that China will be stronger in the world in the future.

Dear Dr Jackson, My parents are never pleased with me. They are always criticizing (批评)my clothes, my hair and the music I listen to. They hate my friends' looks and they keep complaining when I go with them. I'm not allowed to stay out as late as my friends do, so I can't have any fun. My parents only seem to care about my school marks. Although I love them, sometimes I feel we live in different worlds. If they love me, why don't they understand me? Angel |
Dear Angel, Your problem is common to both teenagers and parents. Don't worry, because all this is natural. You see, your parents have grown up at a different time and they have different experiences. So, they think some things are strange, but you find the same things ordinary. For example, the music you like may sound like noise to them. Your parents love you, so they feel they must protect you from whatever they find strange. On the other hand, you don't want to be different teenagers, so you feel that your parents restrict you. I think you should talk about this problem with your parents. Try to explain to them what you want and make them know they can believe you. Sooner or later, they'll find you are a responsible(有责任心的)person and they will give you more freedom. Dr Jackson |

Everyone needs friends. But how do you find real friendship and keep it?
The American writer ,Sally Seamans, tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says founding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed (种子) and take care of it to make it grow.
First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. ⑴For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend could listen to your complaints (抱怨) and do his or her best to help you. To make a friend, you can't be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives.
But things can not always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friend? You should talk to him or her carefully.
⑵Tell him or her how you are feeling, say what your friend did wrong and talk about why you did this or that. Remember that friendship is one of the most important things in your life.
