I'm Mary. I have a piece of good news to tell you. My parents bought a new flat in the centre of the city. The rooms are not big, but they are all comfortable. There are more rooms than our old flat. I am excited(激动) because I have my own bedroom. In the old flat, I share the bedroom with my sister.
My favourite room in the new flat is my bedroom. I can be alone (单独) in it. It is my own small world. I can listen to music, read comics and chat with my friends on the phone. I can also look for things on the Internet and send e—mails to my e—friends.
The kitchen is my favourite room, too. I like helping my mother with the cooking. She is not only a good teacher but also a good cook. She often teaches me how to make some different dishes. She lived in Sichuan when she was a child. So she likes hot food and she can cook very delicious hot food.
Father's Day has a very short history. It was started because there was a Mother's Day, and just because some Americans thought that if we had a Mother's Day, we should also have a Father's Day. Father's Day has become important in North America. And shopkeepers found it was a good way to get people to buy a present for their father from their shops.
By the way, very few countries have a Father's Day, though some have a Children's Day, or an unusual day for boys and another for girls. More and more countries are having Mother's Day, so maybe Father's Day will also become popular before too long. Now, what do people in North America do on Father's Day? The newspapers, radios, and TV tell children what they should do — buy, buy, buy, buy, buy a Father's Day present for your father. They even tell a wife to buy, buy, buy, and buy a Father's Day present — not for her father but for her husband, even if he is not yet a father. And they tell grandchildren to buy, buy, buy, and buy a Father's Day present for their grandfathers.
The important thing to remember about Father's Day is that American children can show their love to their fathers in a more open way.
Allan is a doctor. He is taking notes about the lifestyles of two children, Angela and Andy.
Angela: The girl looks healthy. She knows how to keep fit. She gets up early even (即使) at weekends. And enough exercise makes her fit. She doesn't eat fast food very often.
But sometimes she eats snacks between meals. Are most girls greedy (嘴馋的)? She should eat fewer snacks. They are not good for her. She can eat more fruit between meals.
Andy: Andy likes sports. He is good at swimming and football. He does sports for over one hour every day. That makes him fit and strong.
But Andy is a picky eater. He doesn't eat enough meat for meals. So he is not tall. And he has another problem—sleeping in (睡过头,迟起床). He gets up too late on Saturdays and Sundays.
To get enough energy, Andy should get up early and eat more meat.

It is around midnight when Louise wakes up. At first she doesn't know what wakes her up, but suddenly she hears a noise. It is coming from downstairs(楼下). She is afraid and doesn't want to get out of her bed because it is dark and she can't see anything. She decides to go and find what the sounds are. She gets out of her bed and goes downstairs. It is very dark, so she has to walk slowly and carefully. She doesn't want anybody to hear her.
The noise is coming out of the kitchen, so that is where she wants to go first. She puts her head around the door and sees a big shadow(影子). It looks like a tiger. Louise walks slowly into the kitchen, turns on the light and sees…
She sees her cat licking(舔) the milk off the floor. It knocks its bowl over and is now licking everything clean again. That is the noise.
She gets herself a glass of water and goes straight back to bed.
