It is very important to keep healthy. I have a neighbor. She is an old 1. She can do all the housework, 2newspaper, watch TV and search on the Internet to learn 3new. She looks young and beautiful 4she is over 70. Last week a reporter from a 5interviewed( 采访 )her, the reporter asked her about her 6 life. She answered the question 7a smile. She said, " It's8. Keep quite your mind active, take an interest in the world around you,and learn 9one new thing every day. Exercise is the best way to 10, I think ."My neighbor sets a good example for us. We should keep healthy like her.
A farmer had a cow. He took very good care of this cow and one day when it was ill, he was very worried. He telephoned the vet.
"What's the problem?" The vet asked him when he arrived.
"My cow's ill," the farmer said." I don't know what's the matter with her. She's lying .She's making a strange noise."
The vet looked over the cow. "She's certainly ill," he said, "and she needs to take some very strong medicine."
He took a bottle out of his box, put two pills into his hand and said, "Give her these. The pills should make her better."
" How should I give them to her?" the farmer asked.
The vet gave him a tube ( 管子 )and said, "Put this tube in her mouth, then put the pills in the tube and blow. That'll make it."
The next day the vet came to the farm again. The farmer was sitting outside his house and looked more worried.
" How's your cow?" the vet asked.
" No change," the farmer said," and I'm feeling very strange myself."
" Oh?" the vet said, "Why?"
" I did what you said," the farmer answered." I put the tube in the cow's mouth and then put two pills down it."
" And?" the vet asked.
" The cow blew first," the farmer said.
An old man was going home late one night with his horse and cart after a day. When's hard he work was not far from his house, the light on the cart went out. He tried but could not mend it. He was near his home, and so he went along the road without a light. When a policeman saw this, he stopped the old carter. " Where's your light?"asked the police man. " No one may take a cart along a road at night without alight. You know that. You've broken the law." " I had a light," said the old man," but it has just gone out. "
" I don't believe that story," said the policeman. He took out an book and got ready to write. " What's your name and where do you live?" he asked" Please don't take my name," said. the old man. My house is just there. You can see it from here. I had a light nearly the whole way. I haven't come far without a light."
" You came all the way without a light. What's your name?"
The carter quickly took the policeman's hand and put it down on the top. The the light was still hot, and burnt the policeman. He jumped and he was very angry.
" Now, what do you think?" said the carter. "Did I come all the way without a light?"
How green are you? Do you know how to be green?
We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it does harm to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do something to help. In fact, even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. Here are some ideas for you.
Reduce
Reduce means" use less". Don't waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution and waste going into the environment. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary—or maybe the old one will be just as good! When we buy things, choose local products if possible, and try not to buy too many things from abroad.
Reuse
Reuse means" use again". Use things for as long as possible. When we buy things, make sure that they last a long time. We should look after them so that they will last, and we should repair them if we can instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. Don't use a paper cup or a paper bag. It's better to use cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.
Recycle
Recycle means" change things into something else. Though it takes energy to change something into something else, it's better than throwing things away or burning them. Find out what can be recycled in your neighborhood and take part in recycling programmes. We should also buy products made from recycled materials, such as recycled paper, to help save trees.
So please remember these three words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

We are in a world of competition. Our parents compete with others in their offices, our brothers and sisters compete with others in their colleges, and we compete with our classmates in school.
Many of us up in the face of competition and will never be successful. Why can't we do better than others? One important is that we have no self-confidence.
In fact, everyone is born equal ( 相等的 ). You can do others do. your classmates may be better than you in some ways, you may be better than them in other subjects. So everyone has his or her own advantages. Don't look at things from a single point of view. Try to your own advantages, and believe that you can do better than others in those ways.
is not so terrible. Don't be afraid of it. And don't be afraid of those classmates who better than you. Remember that self-confidence is the first step to . in yourselves, and you will be successful one day.
While you are at the bookstore, you may be faced with a difficult decision: e-books or paper books? Each one has its advantages and disadvantages. Making the best decision depends on a number of factor (因素).
An e-reader can carry a whole library wherever you go, which is great for travelers or those who always want a choice of reading material Although e-readers are convenient, high levels of screen brightness from an electronic device(电子设备) can cause eye problems. A study in the Information Science Research found that young people preferred e-readers, like smart phones or iPads. That's why most teenagers are short-sighted.
Many book lovers still prefer paper books and value the feeling of them. Paper books are very well designed, they look and smell good, and they carry with them a more human touch. Avid (热衷的)readers prefer reading on paper. Perhaps this is their choice because paper books give them a sense of ownership. It is reported that reading on paper rather than an electronic screen is better for memory and focus. But paper books are heavy and they are not convenient to carry.
Which is your decision, an e-book or a paper book?
