Garbage-sorting(垃圾分类) is a good and necessary way to help clean up our city. Shanghai is the first city to follow the new garbage-sorting rules in July last year. People in this city took some time to get used to it. They joked that every time they took out their garbage, the workers standing by the bins would ask, “What kind of garbage are you?”
Starting on May 1, 2020, Beijing joined many Chinese cities by introducing a new garbage-sorting rule. People in Beijing should sort their garbage into four groups: kitchen, recyclable, harmful (有害的) and other waste.
These groups are listed by four different colors of rubbish bins—green, blue, red and gray. The way Beijing sorts its rubbish sounds different from cities like Shanghai and Qingdao. These cities use four different groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry. Although their names are different, the groups are actually the same. In fact, Wet garbage in Shanghai is kitchen garbage. And dry garbage is the same as other waste.
To help people sort their rubbish correctly, Beijing government is offering online help. If people don't know how to throw away rubbish, they can search for it on the phone. By searching a key word or taking a photo, people can easily find out which group their waste belongs to.

Florence Nightingale was named after her birthplace, Florence, Italy. When she was almost one year old, she returned with her family to England. Florence often helped her mother give out food to the poor. As she grew older, she decided to become a nurse. Her family was shocked because nursing was not a good job at that time. But Florence kept on her decision. She studied books on medicine. Later, she visited hospitals in France, Germany and Ireland and learned everything she could.
In 1854, Britain was at war with Russia. Florence went to the British hospital and she was shocked. The condition in the hospital was poor and bad. The hospital left men lying on the floor, and mice were everywhere. Many people died before receiving help.
The doctors wouldn't listen to Florence because they didn't like the idea of women in hospitals — until one day 500 unexpected patients arrived. They soon realized that Florence could give a hand. Florence made changes. She made sure the patients were washed and their wounds were cared for. Every night she would check the patients with her lamp(灯).
When she returned home after the war, people raised money for her. Many of the people she had nursed had given away money. Finally she set up the Nightingale Training School in London.
After years of hard work, Florence Nightingale saw cleaner and more cheerful hospitals. Nursing became an honored(受尊敬的) job. All of this was because of the "lady with the lamp".
How to communicate with others is important.
First, choose a proper subject for your talk. For example, invite people to talk about their lives. Show an interest in hearing about a person's family, ideas, or goals. If a person seems uncomfortable sharing something personal, change the subject.
Second, give feedback(反馈) on what the person is talking about. Wait patiently for your turn to talk. Show that you want to listen to what others are saying. Before expressing your opinion, repeat what you heard. Try to express what you heard in your own words. This shows that you were listening.
Third, saying "Tell me more." is a great skill because it invites the other person to say more. If someone tells you that he's thinking of looking for a new job, you can simply reply by saying, "Tell me more." It shows people that you are truly interested in what they're going to say.
Last, asking for advice shows that you value someone else's opinion. you can ask your friend if he or she likes your new jacket or ask a friend how you should solve a problem. Asking for advice can make others feel important.
A. People don't like to share their advice. B. Good communication means you talk more. C. People know more about their lives than other subjects. D. Just listen to others'advice and keep quiet. E. Here are some suggestions for you to use. F. Be willing to listen to someone else's suggestion. G. You can just nod your head or repeat the person's words in different ways. |
In November 1979, pupils in England were to watch a new TV program Monkey. Most of them were hearing this story for the first time. However, this story is not new to Chinese children. The Monkey King or Sun Wukong is the character in the traditional Chinese book Journey to the West.
The Monkey King is not just any normal monkey. In , he sometimes does not even look a monkey! This is because he can make 72 changes to his shape and size, turning himself into different animals and objects. But he can hide his tail, he cannot turn himself into a man. To fight bad people, the Monkey King uses a magic . Sometimes he can make the stick so small he can keep it in his ear. At other times, he is able to make it big and long.
The Monkey King has excited the children of China for many years. And as as the TV program came out more than 30 years ago, Western children became interested in reading this story because the clever Monkey King keeps fighting to help the weak and never gives .
What are you going to do if you are in a burning house? How will you get out of it? Do you know how to save yourself?1)你应该学着保护自己免受火灾伤害。Please read the following passage.
Getting out of a fire is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save your life. 2)It is important to know the ways you can use. And show the ways to everyone in the family, such as choosing stairs and fire escapes, but not lifts.
From the lower floors of the buildings, escaping through windows is possible. Learn the best way of leaving by windows with the least chance of serious injury. 3)If you have the chance to get out of the fire, be cool and act quickly. The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning building.
4)Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed. Or smoke and fire may be drawn into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you take in air rather than smoke that may get into the room.
On a second or third floor, the best windows for escape are those that open onto a roof. From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely. 5)最后,不要冒险返回房间拿你的物品。
