We can't remember clearly when we started to take our mobiles to a dinner table. This happens a lot, especially when we eat out. Once a dish comes, instead of lifting our chopsticks, we take out our mobile phones and take photos of it. Later, we post (发布) the photos onto Weibo or WeChat, waiting to be "liked". Then we check our mobiles from time to time during the meal, to see whether we get "liked" or not. We just can't leave our mobiles for only a meal.
Does that sound familiar to you? Do you do that often? If not, how do you feel when others do that when having dinner with you?
A recent study suggests that what we are used to doing is not so good. Spending time taking photos of food makes the food less pleasant. To test this, some researchers did an experiment. Some people were asked to take photos before they could enjoy the food. As a result, it showed that the more photos they took, the less delicious the food seemed to them. So why not stop taking photos and just enjoy the food in front of you?
Besides the scientific result, there are also some other bad influences of taking photos of food before meals. After posting the photos onto the Internet, one will not be able to control himself and check his mobile phone many times. "Does everyone like my photos? I hope a lot of people like them!" It seems that your phone secretly calls your name all the time, even when you are with real people.
So next time when you go out to have dinner with your family or friends, how about not taking photos of food? Let the food be delicious as it is and share your life with people around you. Trust me, it will be a wonderful time.

Last Saturday, I went out to see a film after supper. On my to the cinema, I met an Englishman. He looked puzzled (茫然的). So I walked up to him and said to him. His first was Kevin. I asked if I cold help him. He told me he got . He couldn't find his way to the hotel. So I gave up the film and took him to his hotel. While going there, I told him the great changes that had taken place my hometown in the past few years. Kevin told me interesting about his country.
Though I didn't see film, I felt very happy. I had not only helped Kevin get out of trouble, also practiced my spoken English. I also realized that if I had not worked at English, I would not have been able to help Kevin.
In early 2020, a disease called Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (新型冠状病毒肺炎) hit Wuhan. In Mr Zhang's class, the students had a class meeting yesterday. They talked about their feelings during the disaster (灾难): Wu Xing: I always spent most of my time playing computer games, watching TV and chatting online. I never noticed how hard my parents were leading their lives. My father kept smoking that day. I dared not ask him why he was so unhappy. My mother told me that he lost his job because of this disaster. Many people were unemployed like my father. Xu Yanjing: My friend told me that her uncle worked in Wuhan. His uncle would drive back, bring them all kinds of presents and spend a period of good time with all the family every winter holiday. But this spring festival he didn't come back. His uncle is a doctor. They couldn't get in touch with him. They were so worried. I suddenly realized that the time when the family get together is so wonderful. I feel so sorry that every time when my mother asked me to have supper, I just couldn't keep my eyes away from the TV! Dong Meimei: My mother asked me a question, "What if I die?" To be honest, I never thought of such a question before that. We have lived together for over 14 years. I never imagined what my life would be if my mother left me. I suddenly realized that my mother will leave me because of disaster, illness or because she gets too old. I know I must value the time when we are together. I must take care of myself and my family. It's my duty to do so. Huang Ye: I went across some fields with my parents one day. Nothing was grown in the fields! I asked my father why it was like that. My father told me that the farmers were afraid they had no chance to sell what they grow. During this disaster, workers can't get back to work, farmers can't farm, students can't get back to school. I feel so sad. But I believe that if we keep trying, the hard time will go away. |
