If you are in a big city, youcan always find the ATM(自动取款机)without any difficulty. They provide(提供)convenience(便利)for us. They serve us 24 hours, 7 days a week.
But one of the biggest problemsis the ATM safety. You'd better remember the following advice.
First, keep your ATM card well.Report lost cards to the bank right away.
Second, protect your PIN(个人密码)well. Don't give the number toanyone. Don't write your PIN on your card or keep it in your wallet. Don't usenumbers that are easily identified, such as your birth date.
Third, never leave yourreceipt(凭条)behind.Shred receiptsbefore throwing them away.
Finally, for your own safety, spend less time at the machine. Have your ATM card ready before you use themachine. Count your money later, not at the ATM.
Most people want to be happy, but few know howto find happiness. Money and success (成功)alone do not bring lasting happiness. Aristotle, a Greek thinker, said. "Happiness depends upon ourselves." In other words, we make ourown happiness. Here are a few suggestions to help you be happier.
The first secret of happinessis to enjoy the simple things in life. Too often, we spend so much timethinking about the future—forexample, getting into college or getting a good job—thatwe fail to enjoy the present. You should enjoy life's simple pleasures, such asreading a good book, listening to your favorite music, or spending time withclose friends. People who have several close friends often live happier andhealthier lives.
Another secret of living a happylife is to be active. Many people go dancing or play sports. People can forgetabout their problems and only think about the activities.
Finally, many people findhappiness in helping others. Studies show that people feel good when they spendtheir time helping others. If you want to feel happier, do good things forsomeone. You can help a friend with his or her studies, go shopping to buy foodfor an elderly person, or simply help out around the house by washing thedishes.
Maybe you know floods, earthquakes, sandstorms and so on. But have you heard of typhoons(台风)?
Typhoons are some of the worst storms, usually around the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea. Most happen in July, August and September.
How does a typhoon happen? When lots of sea water gets hot in the summer sun, it evaporates(蒸发)into the air. This makes the air hotter. When the air gets warm enough, it starts to move higher up into sky. Then cooler air around it rushes in. It fills the space that is left. After the air gets warmer, it starts to move quickly, making wind. The wind goes in circles(圆圈)and it keeps moving higher in the sky. The warmer the air gets, the quicker the wind moves. And when the wind moves faster than 30 metres a second, a typhoon begins.
A typhoon has two parts, one is called the "eye". In the eye, the wind does not move so fast. The other part is the wall of clouds around the eye. Here are the strongest winds and hardest rains.
Typhoons are very dangerous. What shall we do when a typhoon hits?
Stay inside. Close all the windows and stay away from them.
Try to bring all of your things inside. Strong winds could even blow away your bikes!
Listen to the radio or TV for important information.
If you're told to go to a safer place, do it right now.
a. The wind moves fast enough, a typhoon starts.
b. The air moves quickly, making wind.
c. The sun makes sea water hot.
d. The air gets warmer.

Pasta(意大利面)is one of the most popular foods in the world. People love pasta because it is cheap, quick and easy to make. You can eat pasta on its own with cheese, or with sauce. Pasta comes in so many different shapes and sizes. There are at least 200 different types of pasta.
One of the reasons there are so many types of pasta is that each part of Italy has its own pasta. Pasta has been an important part of Italians' diet since the 13th century. It started as a food for the rich. But by the 17th century, all Italians enjoyed pasta. This is when the first pasta machines were invented. As pasta became easier to make, it became cheaper to buy. Pasta is still an important part of the Italian diet. But now it is an important part of many other people's diet too.
Many people buy pasta, but it's easy to make. You only need flour, salt and eggs. It takes some time to mix the pasta dough together. Then you can choose which type of pasta shape to make. A pasta machine is very useful for this, but you can also cut the pasta by hand.
I often dreamed about Pisa when I was a boy. I learned about the famous b called the Leaning Tower of Pisa(比萨斜塔). But when I read the word Pisa, I was thinking of pizza. I thought this tower was a p to buy pizza.
Many years later I finally saw the Leaning Tower. I knew then that it was Pisa not pizza. But there was still s special about it for me. The tower got its name b really leans(倾斜)to one side. Some people want to try to f it. They are afraid it may f down and they don't like it lean over the city.
I don't think it's a good i to try to fix it. The tower is 600 years old. Why should anything happen to it now? And if you ask me, I like what it looks like. N is perfect(完美的).
There are many o older, more beautiful towers in Italy, b Pisa Tower is the most famous. People come from all over the world to see it.
