The book I read is A Picture to Remember by Sarah Scott-Malden. It's1 a girl called Christina. One day, when she was waiting at the traffic lights, she 2 two men with a gun in a car next to her. They were bank robbers(抢劫者)and she saw 3 faces. They didn't want her to tell the police, so they planned to kill her.
At first, one of the robbers attacked(攻击)Christina near the park, but 4 she only got her arm hurt slightly. After she called in her friend, Philippe for help, they were5 in the street when the robbers drove their car into them. Philippe was6seriously and had to go to hospital. When Cristina visited Philippe and left the7, the robbers followed her. Christina saw that they had a gun and understood 8 they want to do. She was scared, but she kept calm. The robbers were close behind her, but they were driving 9 fast that they couldn't stop the car and it turned over, so the police caught 10 the robbers. That's the end of the story.
In life, everyone once struggles for a dream, whether it's successful or not. I still clearly remember one day when I was in high school. I saw on a website that China's. Got Talent's mass-election(海选)for the best singers was going on. I was very excited and decided to go and try out. But it wasn't as easy as I had thought. When I got there, I saw at least 100 people already waiting in line. My hands started to sweat and shake as my turn got close. I got up and started singing, but I sang so badly that I stopped before I even finished the song. Afterwards I quickly said goodbye to my friends and walked home crying. I thought that I would never be able to show my face in public again.
However, after about a year, that terrible experience became a funny memory. I realized that I didn't need to care about losing that dream, because I made a new and more realistic one. I'm good at English, as well as other subjects. I made it my goal to get accepted into Columbia University. Columbia is hard to get into, and about 1,300 students from all over the world are accepted every year. Though it is hard to get into, I think my dream will come true someday by working hard.

A new report shows what life might be like in 100 years from now. Experts on space and architecture(建筑), and city planners gave their ideas on life in 2116. Twenty-five years ago, we could not imagine how greatly the Internet would change our lives. Now the Internet has revolutionized the way we communicate and learn. They said the changes in the next century would be even more unbelievable.
The way we live, work and play will be totally different from today. There will be many tall buildings, underwater cities, and holidays in space. People will work from home and have virtual(虚拟的)work meetings. People will have 3D printers to “print”everything they need at home, suchas food, clothes and so on. There will also be less need for doctors. Our home health robot will tell us what the problem is and give us treatment. We will also go into space for holidays and get resources that we have used up onEarth. Researchers interviewed 2,000 adults about the predictions, and most ofthem thought they were most likely to happen!

William Lindesay, a British traveler and writer, has been exploring the Great Wall—one of the human's most wonderful building projects. Not even a Chinese knows the Great Wall of China as well as he does.
When, as a schoolboy, Lindesay announced his plan to explore the Great Wall, nobody took him seriously. But Lindesay achieved his goal, by spending 25 years on the Great Wall and has become one of the world's most famous experts on its rich history. Lindesay now lives and works in Beijing. This year his new book has come out, The Great Wall Explained, with a lot of photographs and articles.
Running on the Great Wall was a brave trip and Lindesay had already run 3,000 kilometers along it! During those years, he got to many villages along the way. He was often helped by friendly villagers, although they didn't quite understand why the Englishman would have such interest in the Great Wall.

One sunny spring morning, Clark and I were in the school library. Then I looked out ofthe and saw Mr. White, my English teacher crossing the school yard. “I don't want to meet him,” I said. “Why ?” asked Clark. “He just doesn't like me.”I explained.
Clark thought for a second and said, “Maybe you've gotit wrong. He probably you don't like him, so he's not toyou. People like people who like them. If you show interest in him, he beinterested in you. Get to talk to him.”
At last I walked down and greeted Mr. White warmly. Helooked at ,surprised. And then we laughed together and talked happily. I could imagine Clark watching the window, smiling.
Learn to people first. You'll find that the light you shine on others will soon be shining back at you even brightly.
