The Eiffel Tower is the tallest tower in Paris. It is 324 metres 1. It took two years to build this wonderful 2 and it was finished in 1889. Now the tower is painted 3 seven years. Have you ever really looked at a tree? All trees are big plants. Like all plants, trees have roots. The roots hold trees in the ground. They keep trees from falling over. They bring water and food that trees need to live on.
A tree has a fat stem. We call the tree's fat stem "trunk". Inside the trunk, a tree holds water and food. The water and food go up through the trunk to the green leaves. The leaves use sunlight to make more food for the tree.
Trees help us. They help clean the air. They give us food. Fruits, nuts and chocolate all come from trees. Paper, chairs, beds and houses also come from trees. Trees are also important for other living creatures (生物). They provide a home for birds and other animals. Many animals eat part of trees. Be friends with trees! We need trees and trees need us! Little Mike's grandma died weeks ago. He missed her very much. One afternoon Mike went to the city park where his grandma used to go. There he saw an old lady. She looked very kind. The old lady also returned to her home happily. She told her son that she had food and drinks with a little boy. "He was as lovely as Brittany." she said. Her son was surprised, because he had never seen her so happy since Brittany, her grandson, died weeks ago.
Mr. Jones and Mr. Brown work in the same office (办公室). One day Mr. Jones says to Mr. Brown, "I will have a small party at our house on Monday evening. Would you and your wife like to come?"
Mr. Brown says, "Thank you very much. I'd love to, but let me ask my wife first." So Mr. Brown goes to the other room and telephones his wife. Then he comes back and looks very worried.
"What's the matter?" asks Mr. Jones. "Is you wife there at home?"

The earth is about 4,600 million years old. Human beings have lived on the earth for several million years, but during this period we have changed our planet a lot in many ways.
All over the world, people have cut down millions of trees, so more and more kinds of animals and plants are disappearing. In big cities, cars and buses have polluted the air. Factories have also polluted the land and the water.
It is important to the earth. But now air pollution is destroying it and that has made a very big hole in the ozone layer (臭氧层)

A dog entered a butcher's (屠夫的) shop with a note in his mouth. The note read, “$10 of lamb chops (羊排) , please.”
The butcher was very (surprise). He took the money, put a bag of chops in the (dog) mouth, and then he closed the shop (quick). He followed the dog and watched him wait for a green light. Then the dog crossed the road to a bus stop. He checked the timetable and sat on the bench. When a bus arrived, the dog checked the number and gotit.
