—I'd love to, but my mother doesn't allow me that.
— .
There was a park near my home. 1I didn't go there often. Many people said there was 2 .
One afternoon, I went into 3and found it was really small. I walked4because there was nothing much to see. Suddenly*, I found myself standing in front of two paths. “Which way should I go?” I asked myself when I looked at the two different paths. One was wide and clean 5flowers on both sides. But6 didn't look nice. It was narrow*and dirty. Grass grew everywhere. Of course I wanted to take the 7way. But a strange feeling made me choose the dirty path. It wasn't nice, but I didn't give up. At last, I came to the end of the path. Ah! There was a nice small garden there, maybe 8 garden in my hometown. There were green trees, colorful flowers and lovely chairs. I thought it was the nicest area of the park. And I spent a 9 afternoon in it.
My trip to the park made me understand something about life. Why not 10a different way next time? Don't be afraid! You may get a big surprise.

Traveling is very interesting. Many people love traveling. There are many ways to travel: by plane, by train, by ship or by car. Everyone has their favorite way.
Greg:
My favorite way of traveling is by car. I can bring my pet dog along. I can travel three hundred miles* or only fifty miles a day. I can stop at a good restaurant to enjoy a good meal or at a hotel to spend the night.
Eliza:
I love traveling by train best! It's very exciting. I traveled most of Europe in 5 months by train. It's the best way to talk with the local* people and make new friends on the way. Trains make even the longest trip enjoyable. The train ride to me is just like a big moving party.
I also like traveling by ship. It is a very great way to spend a vacation. I can go to parties and movies on the ship, and enjoy the blue sky and water.
Danny:
Planes are my favorite. It's the fastest way of traveling. I can quickly get to another country. Planes have very comfortable seats. I can have something to drink and to eat. I can also read some free magazines and newspapers.
Zhalong is a nature reserve in Heilongjiang in northeast China. It is one of the world's most important wetlands*. The reserve offers food and places to live in for wildlife. It is an ideal home for different kinds of plants, fish and birds.
Many birds live comfortably in Zhalong Nature Reserve all year round, but some only stay there for a short time. There are many fish in the wetlands, and the birds can easily catch them for food. Zhalong Nature Reserve is an important living area for red—crowned cranes*. There are not many red—crowned cranes in the world. Some of them live in Zhalong.
Some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife.
More and more birds are in danger because they do not have enough living space. Many of them died. The Chinese government wants to protect these endangered* birds, and they can be safe in Zhalong.
Every year, a lot of visitors go to Zhalong to watch birds. This year, members of our Birdwatching Club are going to study the different kinds of birds in Zhalong and the changes in their numbers.
We do a bird count* once a year. We are now inviting middle school students to help. We need more people to help us count and do something to help the birds. Many people do not understand the importance* of the wetlands. We hope this information will help them understand and make them do something to protect wildlife.
