Mr. White was born in a small village. His parents worked hard on their farm but they couldn't get enough food for the family. Of course, he couldn't be sent to school and his uncle who worked in a school taught him at home. And he learned a lot before he left there. When he was sixteen, he found work in a factory. As an abled worker, the boss liked him and seven years later the boss married his daughter to him and with his help, Mr White had his own factory after another seven years passed.
Mrs. White liked her husband very much. So she was always afraid he loved the other women. She often asked him a lot of questions. He wouldn't make her angry and was more careful.
One evening Mr. White was very busy and he told his secretary to help him. When they finished the work, it was ten in the evening. He had to see her home. That night his wife felt unwell and told him to take her to a hospital. He helped her to get on the car and started. But soon after that he found there was a shoe in the car. He had a look at his wife. The woman seemed to be asleep. He picked it up gently and threw it out of the window.
Soon they got to the hospital. As he was going to help her to get off, suddenly the woman called out, “Where's my shoe?”

Teenagers who spend hours in front the television may have a poorer diet as young adults.
A study, which included nearly 1,400 high school students, found those who watched TV for five hours or more per day had less healthy diets than peers(同龄人) five years later. Why does this happen? Should the parents take any measures?
On the one hand, people who spend a lot of time in front of the TV, especially teenagers, may snack more, and that may affect their long-term diet quality.
On the other hand, TV ads for fast food, sweets and snacks tempt teenagers to eat more of those foods. And TV time might also replace exercise time for some kids.
Lead researcher Dr. Daheia J. Barr-Anderson, of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, told Reuters Health a clear correlation between TV time during high school and diet quality in young adulthood. While the heaviest TV viewers were eating the most junk food, those who'd watched less than two hours per day had the highest intake(吸收) of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and high-calcium food. In her opinion, parents should limit and monitor TV viewing.
As far as I am concerned, children should watch no more than two hours of television per day. And parents should set a good example by eating right, being physically active and curbing their own TV time.
Italy is one country where beauty is prized more than any other virtue(美德). That is, except in the small town of Piobbico, the self-declared World Capital of Ugly People. The road sign at the edge of the town even warns visitors that they are entering the ugly zone. People who consider themselves ugly have been gathering in Piobbico since the 1960s. That's when Ugly Club president Telesforo Lacobelli established a dating agency for women who believed they were too ugly to attract husbands. Lacobelli believes that he is ugly himself because he has a short nose in a country where long or large noses have always been considered beautiful.
People from around the world travel to Piobbico to tell their sad stories of ugliness. During the annual Festival of the Ugly, which occurs on the first Sunday of every September, hundreds of people gather in Piobbico's town square to elect the president of the Ugly Club. Lacobelli wins the election every year. The Ugly Club has over 20, 000 members. They carry ID cards that grade their ugliness from bearable to extreme. A prize is awarded to Ugly Club members who qualify as extremely ugly.
The Ugly Club president insists that ugliness is a virtue. Since beautiful people get a lot of attention for their beauty alone, they have to work hard to prove their other virtues. Ugly people, on the other hand, are genuine and do not have to prove anything to anybody, according to Lacobelli.
Lacobelli is a spokesperson for ugly people everywhere. He believes that the uglier one is, the better life can be. Though the club enjoys making fun of beauty, especially beauty contests, Lacobelli has a serious side as well. He believes that too many people suffer from financial and emotional pressures because they don't meet society's standards of beauty. The fact that beautiful people are more successful in the workforce is a problem that Lacobelli has attempted to bring forward to the Italian public and government.
Studying in groups is becoming more and more popular in class. It has many (advantage). For example, we can not only save time but also encourage each other when we study groups. I still remember when I was in Grade 8, my physics (be) very poor. I hadreally hard time with it. Once in class, the teachers askedto discuss it with each other, but I was very shy, I could not do it like what they told me. My physics teacher encouraged me to face others and talk with someone else(brave). Then I studied with some classmates together. When I did not understand any questions, they could give me some advice, I could quickly find out the ways(deal) with the problems. After that, I felt very relaxed and asked my classmates a lot of questions about physics. I did not feel stressed out at all. At last, I finished my homework myself for the first time. How (excite) I was!
At least thirty times Bobby had tried to climb the snowy mountain, but he Because of (study) in groups, I am not worried about physics any more. With my classmates' help, I get more confidence. It also gives me more chances to improve myself in many ways.
How could we live without the Internet? That's not how most of us keep in touch with friends, research a cool place to visit, or find out the latest news. But when you're moving through the Internet, you need to stay safe.
No Talking to Strangers
Since you were a little kid, your mom or dad has probably told you not to talk to strangers.
It's easy to meet a stranger on the Internet. You might visit a chat room or get an email or a text message from someone you don't know.
It can be fun to make new friends, but do not communicate with strangers you meet online..Children have been tricked online by people who pretend to be something that they're not. Some children have found themselves in a dangerous situation when they agreed to meet the mysterious (神秘的) online “friend” in person.
The email could be from a person or a company trying to sell you something, A grown-up should decide what's best to do, which may include changing your email address or telling the police.
Keep Your Privacy (隐私)
Anybody who uses the Internet has been asked to sign in, log in, or create a personal profile (简介). Kids need to check with a parent or grown-up before doing so. Why?.
Another way to keep your privacy is to choose a screen name or email account name that isn't your real name.
A. You can do all these things online.
B. The same goes for the online world.
C. Let your parents know if a stranger emails you.
D. This information could be used for reasons you wouldn't like.
E. Think carefully before you create an email address or screen name.
F. Don't talk to them, agree to phone them, or email them photos of yourself.
G. Don't ask the strangers too many questions for information.
