Penney Rose has just moved into in a new town, and she has to go to a new school. That's a lot of new for 11-year-old girl. Luckily, she has a hobby. Penny usually (spend) a day in her room making robots and says that the robots are her friends.
Now Penney has made a few robots (careful), out of an old phone, a pencil sharpener and so much more. What she really wants is not a robot a true friend to share this with. She soon finds one in her neighborhood. Her name is Lark. Lark is (good) at building bird houses than any other child there, and she is interested penny's robots and joins her building a robot town. At (one), everything works well, but one day things take a strange turn: the robots seem (come) alive.
At that time, Penney gets an invitation from a science club at school, but Lark doesn't, because likes her. Penny has to choose between the best friend she's always hoped for and the club she's always (dream) of. In the end, it may be her little robots that pay the price.
This book shows that making your own space and a true friend in the world is a kind of magic all its own.
Should kids do chores? In our country, many parents believe that (they) children should not do chores. Some of them feel that their (child) schoolwork is very important and that chores only take time away from those more important (lesson). Some parents feel it's just (easy) to do the job themselves- chores for kids would take too much of their time and patience (耐心). Still other parents would say, "You're only young once." and feel that children should have more playtime to enjoy (them).
Back in the days when most Americans lived on farms, parents often (ask) their children to work to help their family survive (生存). But as moms and dads left their homes and went out to work, more and more Americans have decided that children should have a life free from hard work.
When (educate) kids, it is important to remember to teach them life skills when you care about their schoolwork. And because our kids are at home with us all day long, it's very important to put these real life lessons into our day.
Our kids hope to help out with chores a very young age. Most young children actually really like to help their parents- they want (spend) time with parents and do the same things as their parents do. If you have young children, now is the (good) time to invite them to help out with the chores. You will find them very happy to do that.
Dear Emma,
Your problem is likecircle. The harder you study, the (little) time you have to make friends and the less friendly you look to your classmates. The fewer friends you have, the harder you study to make (you) feel better.
Try to break this bad circle. Perhaps you are afraid of meeting new people, you are too shy or too serious (begin) a conversation. You are not someone who has a fun side to his character. Push your shy side away and show your classmates how much fun you can be.
Look at your classmates. Try to find out whether or not there are any people with whom you feel you have a lot common.
First, smile at your (classmate). Do this as often as you can, until your classmates become used to your smiles and smile in return.
Next, talk to your classmates. Do this in classes or during your lunch break. You may find it easier to start by talking to people when they are alone.
Perhaps you could ask a classmate about your studies. They are likely to respond
( 回应) in a very positive way. People like to feel important and (help). It must be someone else in your class who is also quiet. It might be easier to try to talk with him or her.
Your problem is mainly about confidence. Smile first, talk next and (slow) you will make friends. Once you have more confidence, you can make as many friends you want.

If you're tired, you'd better not (stay) up late.
Sleep is lovely—enjoy it! Have a fixed bedtime. It makes you feel calm if everything is in order before you sleep. So brush your (tooth), wash your face, open the window and go to bed. Your mind will take in all the cue(提示) that it's time (go) to the land of dreams and you'll be sleeping a baby in no time. Go to bed when you're tired! If you're feeling really tired, go to bed. Don't stay up to watch a late show, don't try to do bit more work, and don't plan to stay at your (friend) place too late. Go to bed.
Say yes to milk
If you want a bedtime snack, have something calming and sleepy. A glass of warm milk will help to sleep (good). And try not to eat a big meal too close to bedtime, which keeps you awake.
Turn off the TV
TV programs make you excited. Don't watch (something) for an hour you go to bed. Listen to some relaxing music instead! It will send you to sleep in no time at all.
All the tips above (be) for a good night's sleep. Your body's going to thank you very much for it.
The earth is our home. We must look it well. That is to say we must keep the land, air and water clean.
But man has been polluting earth since he first made a fire. People washed their clothes in the river and threw dirty things on the ground. Many (year) ago, pollution has not so serious there were not so many people. When the land or the river became dirty in one place, man moved to another place. But. now, there is (little)clean air, land and water. Man is (pollute) the whole world and there neither enough clean air, nor clean land, nor clean water. More people, more pollution.
Is it possible to get rid of(解决)pollution? We are glad to say that people have come to know the (dangerous)of pollution and a large number of them are working hard (protect)our earth. One of the (good) ways is to stop the pollution.
Man has been interested in the outer space for thousands of years. It has been almost over forty years man's first landing(登陆) on the moon. Now, some people believe that space exploration(探索) is a waste of time and money. It is true that it (cost) billions of dollars to develop the space research, but people just get little information.
However, every coin has two sides. There (be) still a lot of other people who believe that space exploration has more (advantage). And I agree with them. Many new products, such weather and communication satellites(交通卫星), are also products of space programs, and they are good people all over the world. And what's more, people (know) about some scientific knowledge of the outer space already.
We believe that it will bring much(many) advantages in the future, which we can not even imagine now. That's why several countries are trying hard (carry) out space exploration all the time. Let's wait and see.
Have you ever heard of friendships among animals? At a zoo in Germany, an unusual friendship developed a cat and a bear.
No one is quite sure how the friendship first began. One day, some ( worker) in the zoo noticed a black cat was in the bear's cage(笼子 ), and the two animals were playing together peacefully. They were surprised how well the small cat seemed to get with the large bear. The bear keeper allowed the cat (stay) with the bear. And later the pair and their unusual friendship(become) a hot topic at the zoo.
After several years, a new cage was built for the bear. However, the cat was still in the same cage, so it walked around(angry) and cried to be with the bear. The bear keeper finally took pity on let it stay with the bear. The cat and the bear got(close) than before. They often sat together and shared meals insun.
Sometimes it may be natural for animals(have) their own ideas about who would make a good friend. These may surprise humans, who usually expect animals to form relationships with others of the same species.
A young husband (lose) his life in a war. He left behind his wife, Mary and his son, Jimmy. Mary and Jimmy were very poor and their life was very hard. The wife tried her best to look after her son with the best (educate).

Here (be) the money you sent to me. I don't spend much money. I miss you a lot. Every time I hear a car passing by, I run out of the door. But it wasn't my son, I saved the money for you. You can use it you get sick."
School was over. Usually David's mother would take him home from school but today she was not here. David decided to go home alone foot, and, and it took him about half hour.
When he got home, he couldn't get in he did not bring his keys. He knocked on the door, but no one answered. David thought his mother (be) in the toilet, so he waited patiently for her. After a few (minute), David knocked again, but still no one answered. "What is happening? Is there anything wrong with my mother?" he thought to (he)and got worried. Just at that moment, be heard the (friend) voice of his neighbor, John. David told him that no one was home, and John asked him (stay) in his house. Two hours later, when David's mother got back, he (play) games with John. happy he was to see his mother!
China is my motherland. It lies in the east of Asia.
The official language in China is (China). But there are lots of different dialects(方言)in different areas. China's is more than 1.3 billion. And the population in the east is much (big)than in the west. The weather in China is wetter and warmer in the and drier and colder in the north.
There are lots of places of interest in China, such the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the West Lake and so on. They have been famous many years.
China is an old country with about 5000 (year) history. There are four important (invent)in Chinese history-paper printing, compass(指南针), explosive(火药)and china.
In the past twenty years, great changes (take)place both in cities and in the countryside. With the (develop)of science and technology, China's tomorrow will be much better.
