Penney Rose has just moved into in a new town, and she has to go to a new school. That's a lot of new for 11-year-old girl. Luckily, she has a hobby. Penny usually (spend) a day in her room making robots and says that the robots are her friends.
Now Penney has made a few robots (careful), out of an old phone, a pencil sharpener and so much more. What she really wants is not a robot a true friend to share this with. She soon finds one in her neighborhood. Her name is Lark. Lark is (good) at building bird houses than any other child there, and she is interested penny's robots and joins her building a robot town. At (one), everything works well, but one day things take a strange turn: the robots seem (come) alive.
At that time, Penney gets an invitation from a science club at school, but Lark doesn't, because likes her. Penny has to choose between the best friend she's always hoped for and the club she's always (dream) of. In the end, it may be her little robots that pay the price.
This book shows that making your own space and a true friend in the world is a kind of magic all its own.
