Dear Liza,
I will be ten years old on Friday, 22nd July. To celebrate my birthday, I will invite several friends and I hope that all of you will be able to come to the party on that day.
There will be two parts in my party. The first part will be at the swimming pool near our school.
Please bring your swimsuit (游泳衣) and a change of clothes. We have planned some pool games. My parents will be at the pool to protect the swimmers. The pool party will be from 2 to 3 p.m..
The second part of the party will be at my house. A bus will take us all from the pool to my house. A singer is coming to my house. He will sing popular songs for us. I am sure you will enjoy them. The home party may last till 5 p.m..
Please let me know by Friday, 15th July, whether you will come to my party, so that I will know how much food to prepare.
Love,
Tracy
We are in Australia for our summer holidays. We're having a great time here. Australia is the sixth largest country in the world. There is so much to see that it is impossible for me to tell you everything. Sydney is a beautiful city. There are many big trees and beautiful flowers around the houses and they look really beautiful. There are also some special animals in Australia, such as kangaroos and koalas. They are really lovely.
During the past three days, Marie, May and I have visited many places of interest around Sydney. I'd like to spend more time here. But we will fly to another city, Cairns, to see coral reefs (珊瑚礁) tomorrow. It is said that words cannot describe the beauty of the colorful coral. Many famous cartoon films were made there. Now we are busy packing our bags so that we will not lose time when we leave. We can enjoy ourselves in Cairns this time tomorrow. I'm looking forward to going there!
Life on the earth depends on the sun. Day after day, we see its light and feel its warmth. The sun is far away from the earth. It is ninety-three million miles away from the earth. The sun is a large star. The earth is very small among its planets. Every day the sun sends out a great deal of heat and makes us feel hot. But we receive only a small part of the heat, because the sun is so far away from us and its heat loses more of its energy(能量) when it reaches the earth. We also receive a very small part of its light. This is enough for the growth of trees, plants, and humans. On the other hand, much heat and light would do harm(危害) to them. The heat and light from the sun come in just the right quantities(数量) for life on the earth.
There is lots of junk(垃圾) in space. Some of it is from rockets. In 1996, a rocket broke into about 300,000 small pieces. So far, scientists have found over 10,000 man-made pieces flying around in space. Only 6-7%of them are satellites and space probes (探测器). Astronauts also lose small things while working in space. In 1965, during the first American spacewalk, astronaut Edward White lost a glove. For a month, the glove stayed in space, travelling at a speed of 28,000 kilometers per hour .It became the most dangerous piece of clothing for the Earth in history it flew away. Things move very fast in space. If they hit(碰撞)one another, it can be dangerous .A little piece of paint from a satellite once made a hole in a spacecraft window. Last year two US spacecraft dropped some bolts(螺栓), and scientists on the Earth worried a lot. Luckily the bolts floated(漂浮) away into space. They couldn't hit the spacecraft.
I have many teachers now and I love them all, but I think I love my English teacher, Mrs. Li, best. Mrs. Li is from Fengcheng. But she loves Yichun very much. She loves Yichun food. Do you know what she likes for breakfast? Bread and milk? No, she doesn't. She also likes fruit and vegetables.
Mrs. Li has a daughter. She is fifteen years old. She goes to Yichun Middle School. She studies hard.
She often runs with us after school. But she can't play basketball or soccer. She watches them on TV.
We have English from Monday to Friday. But she is always nice and happy. She helps us with English. All my classmates like her.
A. Mrs. Li loves sports. B. She thinks Yichun is great. C. We don't have classes on Friday. D. So Mrs. Li is very busy. E. She only has rice flour nodes(面). F. Her name is Yangyang. |

Dear Larry,
It was lovely to hear from you again and to know that things are going with you.
Thanks for telling me all the Chinese Moon Festival. It sounds like you enjoyed a great party in Inner Mongolaia(内蒙古). It makes me think of the festival we took part in we traveled in South Africa. The people there kept many goats(山羊), as well as sheep and cows. Beef was expensive and was only for very time. In all our time there we were served beef in the villages, because beef is not usually served to.
By the way, I happened to see these pictures and thought you'd like to see. A Chinese girl gave Tang suits to Joan and me when she left school. We them on in the university car park. Someone took photos for us though I was wearing my kilt(苏格兰短褶裙)! It seemed to be different that some suggested that I could start a new look.
We wore Tang suits to a dinner which was held on the ship in August when we visited Germany. Some Chinese ladies came and spoke to us. They were interested in my traditional Chinese clothing.
We look forward to hearing from you again.
Best Wishes!
Yours,
Ken and Joan

Now I'm standing in front of my daughter's school. I here twice. Last year, I came here and a talk about kindness to 60 kids and their teachers. After a small talk about the story of kindness, I gave them a task — I told them a small story about an act of kindness(善举) they in the past and how that made them feel. Then I would the best one and share it with all the people the next week.
When I was waiting for my daughter, I some teachers walking by and I hoped they would tell me if they liked the talk or not, but they didn't say anything.
Then a little boy came to me and said, "You know, I the talk today." "Then are you going to write a lovely story?" I asked. "I'm not good at " said the boy. So I explained (解释) that I would be glad if he could just write a word or two about an act of kindness.
He didn't have time to me because his friends were for him, but in my heart it was a beautiful act of kindness. The act he enjoyed my talk made me very happy.
Flowers are a wonderful gift in the world. Everyone likes them. Flowers stand for (代表) love, happiness, joy and all the other good feelings.
Sending flower gifts is popular for Mother's Day. We can see more people holding flowers in arms on Mother's Day than on Father's Day. Traditional gifts such as ties and shirts are often for fathers, grandfathers and uncles. But why not send Dad some spring flowers, a green plant or another flower gift for Father's Day? It is true that men also have a soft side to them. (A)Give your father some flowers on Father's Day and he is sure to be very happy, or even excited.
White and red roses are known to be the official flowers of Father's Day. People wear a white rose to miss a father who has passed away and a red rose for a father who is living.
Men love bright and hot colours (B) ________ yellow, orange, purple and red. They also love the natural flowers. Beautiful red roses and yellow ones are loved by most men.
If you know your dad's favourite flower or colour, you can buy your Father's Day flowers to meet his likes.
