Now, it seems that artificial intelligence(人工智能) is becoming more and more popular in our life, and it has greatly influenced the ways we live, work and play. Can you 1 that you can play table tennis with a robot one day? Recently, a scientist has invented a special robot that can be a table tennis 2. That 3 people can learn how to play table tennis not only from humans but also from a robot.
Named Forpheus, the smart table tennis robot is quite special. It can study the 4 of human players and the speeds of the ball. In this way, it can 5 judge(判断) the players' skill levels. Then it uses the information to 6 the ways to play. If the players are just beginners, Forpheus will play in a slow and easy way. But if the players are better ones, the robot will play in a 7 and more difficult way. 8, while playing, it encourages players to try their best with words like: "Good job!", "Come on!" and so on. At the same time, it gives some good 9 to improve their skills. So, it is both a good partner and a clever coach.
Science and technology is developing quickly these days and no one knows what will happen in the future. "In the next 20 years, it will be 10 that one robot teaches another to play table tennis or even invents another one!" Takurya, the inventor of the robot, said.
Wu Yue, a 14-year-old student at a Junior High School in Hangzhou, usually has lunch with his classmates in their dining hall. But one day, a newcomer, the school headmaster, joined them at the same table. They talked about the food that the dining hall offered and had a nice chat.
Wu is not alone. Many students across China have the chance to eat with their headmasters. The government issued a notice on food safety and nutrition (营养) management in schools, asking headmasters from kindergarten to high school to have meals with students. The rule took effect(生效) on April 1st.
Many schools now have seats for school managers when they eat with students in the dining hall. After talking with them, the managers have to write reports and make suggestions to dining hall workers. Many students were asked about the food that they liked most. To their surprise, their favorite dishes appeared in the dining hall later. "It's not just about the food. It makes me feel that I have a say in school," explained one student. "My ideas are valued."
Some headmasters regard these mealtime conversations as their main chance to communicate with students. And they notice that some students prefer meat to vegetables. "We are thinking about how to improve the dining hall's dishes and provide students with a healthy diet," one headmaster said. As students become more familiar with the school managers, they begin to express their own points of view.
"It's important to understand students' requirements. Our practice shows the school's sense of responsibility," another headmaster said.
"Life's a long, long journey." so we are told, and most of us would not set off on a journey, even a short one, without some ideas of where we wanted to go. Yet many people travel on life's journey with no sense of direction at all.
Setting personal goals can give your life a sense of direction. Goal setting is used by top sports players, successful business people and achievers in all fields. Before you set personal goals, think about what you want to achieve with your life.
Try to set goals in some of the following categories (类别):
Education—Will you achieve the educational goals after finishing high-school? Are you still growing and learning?
Family—What kind of relationship do you want with your parents and other family members?
Creative—Do you want to achieve any artistic goals?
Career—What job do you want to take when you grow up? What do you need to make your dream come true?
Public Service—Do you want to make the world a better place?
Physical—Are you fit enough to do the things you want to do?
Pleasure—How do you want to enjoy yourself?
To help make the process more manageable, divide your goals into smaller tasks. For example, if you want to reach a main goal in five years, set a three-year goal, a one-year goal, a three-month goal and a one-month goal. Then create a daily To-Do List of things that you should do today. When a goal is achieved, take the time to enjoy your success. This helps you build the self-confidence.
Remember, your goals can change as time goes on. But be sure your goals are things you hope to achieve, not what your parents, family or teachers want.
Some children were working in a wheat (小麦) field. Some worked hard and some didn't. But one small boy just ran here and there after the butterflies and sang happily.
In the evening, an angel (天使) came and said to the children, "Come now to the gate, and bring your sheaves (小麦捆) with you."
So the children came, bringing their sheaves, but the boy that had run after the butterflies, came empty-handed.
"No one can enter here without sheaves," the angel told him.
Hearing that, the small boy lowered his head.
Then all the other children cried out together. One said, "Dear Angel, let him in! In the morning I was sick and this boy came and played with me, and showed me the butterflies. Also, he gave me one of sheaves, and I would give it to him again."
Another said, "Dear Angel, let him in! At noon I fainted (昏倒) and fell down. This boy brought me water, and then he showed me the butterflies until I felt better. To me he also gave one of his sheaves, and I would give it to him again."
And a third said, "Just now, as evening was coming, I was tired and I couldn't go on working. But this boy comforted me, showed me the butterflies, and gave me one of his sheaves." And the other children said with one voice, "We also had sheaves of him, dear angel. Let him in!"▲The angel smiled, and reached his hand inside the gate and brought out a pile of sheaves. "Here are his sheaves!" said the angel. "They are known and counted, every one." And he said to the small boy, "Lead the way in!"

To describe a person's serious illness, they say "sick as a dog". The word "dogtired" means very tired.

I often feel sleepy in class. I don't know what the teacher is saying and I don't know how to do my homework either.2
I'm not a good student in my teacher's eyes. It seems that he cares little about such students like me. I feel sad about this.
My parents are very strict with me. I am not allowed to have any fun even listening to the music. I get sick of sitting there and doing exercises again and again.
I know I'm not talented. Even though I work very hard on my study, I make no progress. I feel very sad.
I do very well in my study. My teachers and parents are proud of me. But I'm not happy at all. I don't know how to get on with others.
Yesterday, as I was coming near the front door of our public library, a white-haired gentleman stepped back(hold) the door for me. With a stick in my hand, it is not strange people to do so. However, I told the gentleman that the door had an automatic (自动) opener, and that it can open by(it). He said, "I thought I would have a chance to be helpful." On (hear) that, I stepped back, let the door close, and(allow) him to reopen the door, not using the automatic control this time. That act of kindness not only got me happier but also made the gentleman feel(good) about himself.
(hold) the door open is a polite and thoughtful act. It can bring warmth to others whether you are at homeat work. Open the door for others and they will thank you. Those around you will(certain) appreciate (赞赏) your good manners. Keep in mind that small deed makesbig difference.
