My mother used to ask me what the most important part of the body was. When I was young, I thought was very important to us humans, so I said, "My ears, Mommy." She said, "No. Many people are deaf. You can keep about it, and I will ask you again.
Several years , and she asked me again. This time I told her, "Mommy, sight is very important to so I'm sure it must be our eyes." She looked at me and told me, "You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct, because there are many people who are ."
Over the years, mom asked me some more times and her answer was, "No, but you are getting smarter every year, my child."
Then last year, my grandpa died. Everybody was crying. My mom looked at me when it was our turn to say goodbye to Grandpa. She asked me, "Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?"
I was shocked when she asked me. I always thought it was a game between her and me. She said, "This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived life." I saw her eyes were filled with tears. She said, "My dear, the most important body part is your ."
I asked, "Is it because it holds up our head?" She replied, "No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one he cries. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometimes in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends. Then you will have a shoulder to cry on when you need it."
Should we be afraid of sharks? Maybe not. New research into the reasons for shark attacks suggests that sharks don't like the way humans taste! In fact, most people who are attacked by the shark didn't die after receiving only one bite (咬). Why is this?
There are many opinions to explain why sharks sometimes attack people. One opinion is that sharks are just curious (好奇的). We know that sharks are the strongest animals in their environment, so they are not afraid of anything. Naturally, that means they are curious when they meet something unusual. Because they don't have hands or feet, the only way they can find out an object is to bite it! It is thought that sharks sometimes bite humans for this reason, and then swim away.
Scientists also say that sharks would not waste energy trying to eat a human, as we have a lot of bones. It is hard for a shark to eat us because sharks don't have hands, and they can't pull the meat off our bones. Maybe that's why they only bite us once. Unluckily, one bite from a large shark is serious enough to hurt people greatly!
Another opinion is that sharks attack humans by mistake. Some sharks may sometimes mistake humans for a seal. An example of this is when a shark attack attacks a surfer. A surfer lying on a surfboard looks like a seal when seen from below. Sharks like seals because they have thick fat.
Whatever the reason for shark attacks on humans, sharks should be afraid of us. Sadly, we kill almost 40 million of them each year.
The World Tourism Organization says that space will soon become a popular place to go on holiday- possibly by 2020. One Japanese company is planning a space holiday center. It will look like a bicycle wheel and have a very modern hotel for 100 people and a park. It will travel around the earth at a height of 300km. The company hopes the center will be ready soon. The company manager says he thinks that flying to the center will probably be quicker than flying from Hong Kong to Singapore. After they arrive at the center tourists can take trips to the moon or go for walks in space. What about the cost? Well, the company believes that people will be happy to pay about $ 100,000 for a trip. But they think that as more people want to go, the trip will become much cheaper.
An American company is also thinking of building a very modern hotel, called the Lunar Hotel, on the moon. Most of the hotel will be under the ground, so it won't become too hot or too cold. The rooms will look just like they do on the earth. The guests will eat normal food for lunch. The cooks will just push a button (按钮) to mix dried food with water to make a meal!
There will be little or no dirt and there won't be much water. So the hotel won't wash the towels or sheets(床单) they will be thrown away.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, people have been used to their new work situation. But what if your job is to control a mufti-billion-dollar space rover (探测车) on a planet—Mars nearly 200 million km away from Earth?
A team of NASA scientists is doing just that. In order to follow social distancing rules these scientists have had to work from home. But they've still found ways to work together and take care of the complex (复杂的) tasks that are needed to keep the Curiosity rover working on Mars.
Their work-from-home setups (装配) took much like home office setups. They use ordinary (普通) computers. But instead of working on spreadsheets (电子制表), these scientists arc programming complex sequences (序列) of instructions that are then sent to the rover. These instructions allowed the rover to find a rock sample (样本 in a location on Mars called "Edinburgh".
Usually, the team's 20 scientists work together by communicating through apps or video meetings. One scientist might have to follow 15 message channels (通道)at once.
NASA gave the scientists headsets (耳机) monitors and other equipment to allow them to do their jobs from home. However, the goggles (眼镜) they usually use to analyze (分析) pictures from Mars could not be sent out. So they have to depend on red-and-blue glass lenses (镜片) instead.
But difficulties like these have not been a problem for the scientists. In fact, getting used to changing situations is "classic, textbook NASA," according to the head of science operations Carrie Bridge. "We're presented with a problem and we find out how to-make things work. Mars isn't standing still for us; we're still exploring." she said.

The following are some tips for becoming a successful businessman by Michael Bloomberg. They are based on his experience of building a company from the ground up, leading New York City as mayor (市长), and so on.
Take Risks
Life is too short to spend your time avoiding failure.
In 1981, at the age of 39, I lost my job. The next day I took a big risk and began my own company. In 2001, when I was debating whether to run for mayor, most people advised me not to do it. But one person said, "If you can imagine yourself giving a concession (败选) speech, then why not go for it?" That was the best advice I received, and I followed it.
In order to succeed, you must first be willing to fail— and you must have the courage to go for it anyway.
Make your own luck
Luck plays a part in success. The harder you work, the luckier you get.
Whatever you choose to do, even if it's not the job of your dreams, always work hard at it. Be the first person at work in the morning and the last to leave at night. Hard work creates chances.
Never stop learning
The most powerful word in English language is "why". There is nothing so powerful as an open, inquiring mind (探究精神) . Whatever field you choose for starting a business — be a lifelong student.
Give back
You are responsible for your success and failure, but you only succeed if you share the reward with others.
My first donation was a $ 5 check to my alma mater (母校) . And while the checks (支票) may be bigger today, they come with the same spirit.
You don't have to be wealthy to give back. You can give back by giving your time and talents.

Many cities around the world today are heavily polluted. Products are not produced in a "green" way. It leads to the new pollution problem. One result is that millions of tons of wastes like glass, paper and plastics are produced. The waste problem is difficult to deal with.
However, today, people have realized the importance of buying and using environmentally- friendly products. More and more people are choosing "green" and expecting that the products they buy should be safe for the environment. Before they buy a product, they ask questions like these, "Will this soap be bad for the environment?" "Can this metal container be reused or can it only be used once?
Over 20,000 people took part in a web survey on buying environmentally-friendly products. Among them, 8,129 people say that they now consider the environmental safety of a product before they buy it. That is to say, companies must change the way they make and sell their products to make sure that they are "green".
A few years ago, it was impossible to find green products in supermarkets, but now there are hundreds of them. Some supermarket products carry labels to show that they are green. Some companies have made the clean and safe products. The growing need for a safer and cleaner environment is making companies rethink how they do business of them. The public will no longer accept the old idea of "buy it, use it, throw it away, and forget it." As a result, the companies have to take action.
