Most of us don't have to worry about our next meal because we know there is plenty of food available. But many people around the world are not that lucky. They live in hunger every day.

According to a recent U. N. report, about 113 million people around the world were influnenced by acute hunger last year. Acute hunger is the most serious hunger — it means those who will die soon if they don't have food. Nearly two-thirds of people facing acute hunger come from just eight countries where wars broke out often.

Besides, weather change and natural disasters (自然灾害) pushed another 29 million people into acute hunger in 2018, according to the report. This number includes people in southern Africa who faced dry weather last year.

U.N. World Food Program Executive Director David Beasley called for world leaders to take action in order to meet the U.N.'s goal of stopping hunger. He called on them to solve the problems that are causing so many people to go hungry.

China has worked hard to deal with its own hunger problem. The country has lifted 80 million people out of hunger since 2009, Xinhua reported

Bullying (欺凌) can happen to anyone. A great many children around the world are bullied every year, but there are things that can be done to help.

What is bullying?

Bullying is when someone makes you feel bad or hurts you again and again. Bullying can happen at school, out of school and online. Bullying includes;

·calling people mean (恶意的) names

·laughing at people

·telling lies about people

·taking someone's things without permission (允许)

·not letting someone play in a group

·hitting people

What is cyberbullying?

Cyberbullying includes:

·sending bad messages online

·sharing photos online without permission

·not letting someone be part of an online group

What can you do?

If someone is not kind to you, tell an adult that you know and like. For example, talk to a parent or a teacher.

If you get bad messages, don't reply. You should save them and give them to your teacher, your family, or the police. Ask an adult for help. Don't share something before you make sure it is true, That will help stop the cyberbullying.

Talk to your parents or teacher or an adult if you see bullying or if you are worried about a friend.

Say sorry if you are not kind to someone. You can write a message or talk to the person. And always remember: think about how to be kind in the future.

In our daily life, robots are often found to do work that is too dangerous, boring, difficult, or dirty. And we often see kids play with toy robots.

But what exactly is a robot? There are some important characteristics (特征) that a robot must have. These characteristics might help you to decide what is and what is not a robot. It will also help you to decide what you will need to build into a machine before it can be considered as a robot. A robot has these important characteristics:

Sensing First of all, your robot would have to be able to sense the environment around it. Give your robot sensors (传感器): light sensors (eyes), touch sensors (hands), chemical sensors (nose)，hearing sensors (ears) and taste sensors (tongue).

Movement A robot needs to be able to move around its environment. It can move on wheels, walk on legs or be driven by small engines (发动机). A robot can move either the whole body or just parts of it.

Energy A robot needs to be able to power itself. Some robots might power itself with sunlight, some might with electricity, while others with the battery (电池). The way your robot gets its energy will depend on what your robot needs to do.

Intelligence A robot needs some kind of "smarts". A programmer is the person who gives the robot its "smarts". The robot will have to have a certain way to receive the program so that it knows what it is to do.

Chinese dishes are very different in the north and south. But there is one kind of dish that is  in most parts of China. It is baozi. Chinese President Xi Jinping once evenin a restaurant and bought some baozi.

Baozi are usually with vegetables or pork and wrapped in a soft flour shell. They are made in different sizes. The smallest is Xiaolongbao. Each one comes in a bite-sized form.

The fillings of baozi are also. Vegetables and meat are common. In the south, many people alsosweet fillings such as sugar in baozi. Some baozi even have inside; for example, steamed juicy buns. People use a straw to drink the soup before eating it. The trick to cooking steamed juicy buns is to put a jelly made of gravy inside it first. The jelly melts steamed, giving people a juicy taste. Although most baozi are steamed, some are in a different way. Shengjianbao is fried. People love its crispy shell and golden color.

Baozi is important to Chinese people. It is one of China's most popular , the Xinhua News Agncy reported. Many  also like baozi. They call them dumplings.

You may have seen many pumpkins in posters and TV shows recently, .

Lanterns made of pumpkins, also known as jack-o'-lanterns, are often seen during Halloween.  and put them in front of their houses. People hollow out (挖空) a pumpkin, carve (雕刻) a face on one side, and place a candle inside to make the pumpkin glow. .

This is not the only way in which pumpkins are part of American culture.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, . It is made from pumpkins and has some delicious spices to give it a nice flavor (味道). People often put some whipped (搅过的) cream on top of it before serving it. It is one of my favourite things to eat during Thanksgiving.

There is also "pumpkin chucking (丢) ". . The person whose pumpkin flies the farthest wins the competition. The world record for pumpkin chucking was set in Utah in 2010. The distance for that world record was about 1.69 kilometers!

Finally, there are also pumpkin growing contests. For these contests, farmers try to grow the biggest pumpkins they can. The person who has the biggest pumpkin will win the first prize.

In 1983, a talented young guitarist Dave was kicked out of his band. Although he was very unhappy, he still managed to start a new band which was the legendary (传奇的) heavy-metal band, Megadeth. Pete understandably fell into a deep sadness. But Pete in many ways ended up better than Dave. He explained that his getting kicked out of the Beatles finally led him to meeting his wife, then having their loving children. Fame and glory (荣誉) would have been nice, but what he already had was more important: a big and loving family, a happy marriage, and a simple life. Pete learned to see his life in a new light. He grew into a happy and healthy old man, with an easy life and great family— things that the four Beatles would spend years' effort to achieve.

This is what "self- improvement" is really about: choosing better values, choosing better things to care about — things that matter, things that improve the state of our well- being and that bring happiness, pleasure, and success as side effects. Because when you give better changes, you get better problems. And when you get better problems, you get a better life.
