The world's first 3D-printed neighborhood
A giant 3D printer started to build 2 houses in a rural(乡下的）part of Mexico in December, 2019. Developers(开发者）also hoped to build another 48 new houses by the end of 2020. It would be the first 3D-printed neighborhood in the world.
The families live in a seismic zone(地震带)in the state of Tabasco, Mexico. It's dangerous. So the new houses should be very strong. Also, it's important to keep them dry when there are heavy rains.
The printer is about 10 meters long. It takes some days to build two houses at the same time.
The 500-square-foot homes have two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room and a kitchen.
"Because 3D printing is cheaper and faster than traditional construction(传统建设), there's great potential(潜力)for how it will make the world different," a man said. "Maybe one day anyone would be happy to live in such a house."
