Do you like shopping on the Internet? I like to buy books online. Usually, the price isn't very1. You don't have to pay a lot. When I want to know2about a book, I write an e-mail to the online shop for an answer. I am shy. It is difficult for me to3with the shopkeepers in real shops.
Sometimes online shops have4of the book. They can show you some pages of the book, too. I think this is very5. I don't like to read books in shops because the shopkeepers6come and talk to me. I don't know7to say to them.
I can shop at midnight if I want to. Real shops8at nine o'clock in the evening. Some people think they can9things from online shops, but postmen may lose or damage their things. But I don't worry about that. I think it is10to damage a book and most of the postmen are very careful.
Some people say that shopping in real shops is good because they can go with their friends and11many different things. They call this window shopping. I don't have any friends and I don't like to talk too much- -it makes me12.
I am13my grandmother how to shop online. She cannot walk very far14it will make shopping easy for her if she shops online. My brother15wants to learn how to do it. He is very busy most of the time. When he has a little free time, he can shop online.

Americans often touch their temples to say somebody is clever. But this means one is silly to Chinese.
In America, people do this to say "OK", but it means somebody will lose his or her job in Japan.
In China, the thumbs-up sign means good. But in Australia and South Africa, it is a bad sign.
In America, waving one's hand means goodbye. But in Peru, people will not leave when they see this; they will run towards you.
Japan has many robots now and you can see lots of them in the country. You can find worker robots, robots that clean your home, and even robots you can play with.
My friend Tasuku has got a restaurant in a big city. It is near a supermarket. He gets nine robots for the restaurant. Each robot costs (价值) 34,000 yen. The restaurant is not big, but very popular. Now more and more people come here for dinner.
The robots have different jobs in the restaurant. Three robots cook different kinds of food; one washes the dishes (盘子); one cleans the floor and the others give food to the customers.
Although robots do most of the jobs in the restaurant, Tasuku is still very busy. He must do many things to keep the robots working well. Luckily, Tasuku is good at studying robots and he knows robots very well. I think in the future, there will be a lot of robot-themed restaurants (机器人主题餐厅) around the world.
Reading is a good habit, but the problem is, there's too much to read these days, and too little time to read every word of it. There are hundreds of skills to help you read more in less time. Here are two skills that I think are especially good.
Preview—if it's long and hard. Previewing is especially useful for getting a general idea of heavy reading like long magazine articles and business reports.
Here's how to preview.
Read the first two paragraphs and the last two paragraphs carefully.
Then read only the first sentence of the other paragraphs.
Previewing doesn't give you all the details. It keeps you from spending time on things you don't really want--or need--to read.
Skim—if it's short and simple. Skimming is a good way to get a general idea of light reading like popular magazines or the sports and entertainment of your daily paper.
Here's how to skim.
Get your eyes to move fast. Sweep them across each line.
Pick up only a few key words in each line.
Everybody skims differently. You and I may not pick up the same words when we skim the same piece, but we'll get a similar idea of what it's all about.

This is a story about a monkey. The old man liked the monkey very much. The monkey was very clever. When birds came to the garden, he drove(驱赶) them away. He also helped the old man in many other ways. A fly(苍蝇) came and sat on the end of the old man's nose. The monkey drove it away. Soon the fly came back again and sat on the old man's nose again. Again and again, the monkey became very angry. He jumped up, ran to pick up a large stone. When he came back, the fly was on the old man's nose again.
