The problem of waste(浪费) is becoming more and more common(普遍), so we must control(控制) it.
Every day , a lot of 1 goes uneaten (没吃) and ends up in the trash, while many people in developing countries (发展中国家)cannot even 2to have one meal every day. The next time you 3 to a delicious dinner, ask yourself, "How much food 4 I eat?" If you think about only taking as much as you are able to 5 , it will help you cut 6on waste.
The problem of waste 7all over the world. People often consume(消费) 8than they really need . This often results in waste and it can be a big9. However, there are many things that we can do10 cut down on trash and waste.
The most important thing to remember is to be friendly to the11. Only take as much as you can eat, don't buy things you12 need, and leave litter in its proper(恰当的) place.13every person could cut down on waste in daily lives, even just 14, the whole result would be great.
We know that many restaurants have joined the "clear you plate(盘子)" campaign against 15food. We students should do the same in our daily life especially when having dinner with our friends and relatives.

How do you feel when you have to make a speech in front of class? What about when you go to a birthday party? Do you get really shy?
Shyness means feeling nervous or afraid when you're around other people. Experts have found that more than 80% of middle school students feel afraid to be the center of attention. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences(经历).
It's OK if it takes you a while to feel yourself again when you go to a new place or meet new people. In fact, everybody gets a little shy sometimes. It's just a case of how much.
Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they get shy. But some become so shy that they won't go to a restaurant because they are too nervous to order and pay for their food. Some are afraid of meeting new people, so they seldom go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.
If shyness doesn't stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn't a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are cleverer because they think more and talk less. Shy people are also good at working with others because they think more for other people. Some great people in history were shy, too.
You see, being shy isn't all bad. But remember not to let good opportunities(机会) pass by just because of it! If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or practice your spoken English in front of others, just do it! There's nothing to be afraid of.
Alice spends her summer vacations walking back into history. Alice is 15 and she is a guide who shows visitors around the Fort(城堡)Delaware Museum in New York. "This year, I spun wool(纺毛线)on a spinning wheel. Last year, I was a candle maker. My first year, I cared for the garden and looked after the animals. All the jobs I've had at the fort have been really fun."
Fort Delaware is a living-history museum that shows how life was in frontier(边远地区)America in the mid-1700s. "Reading about history can't compare to experiencing it for yourself," says Alice.
The experience begins as soon as visitors enter the fort. The smell of wood smoke fills the air. Women in petticoats (long skirts) and men in knee breeches (knee-length shorts) are busy with their chores. The guides show visitors how the settles(移民)would have carried out everyday work. "Kids are surprised when I tell them that one of their jobs would have been to make candles," says another guide, 16-year-old Jane. "They don't realize that kids back then had to work hard." She also shows visitors how to play with toys and games.
They are playing historical parts, so the guides can't wear shorts or T-shirts when the weather is hot. But the clothes of the past can easily change modern kids into people from 18th century. "The clothing felt strange at first, but it does make it easier to get into characters," says Jane.
Working at the fort has helped Jane to appreciate her life even more. Alice agrees, "The fort has taught me how hard life was and how much work there was every day. We are so lucky with everything we have now. Life wasn't always this easy."
British people are famous for drinking tea. But brother and sister, Sarah and Bobby Green, became young millionaires when they opened a chain of American-style coffee shops in the UK.
Having the idea: It started when Sarah took a weekend trip to New York to visit her brother Bobby. One evening, in a Thai restaurant, Sarah told Bobby how much she wished she could buy American-style coffee in London. Bobby suggested they started their own coffee shop. Sarah fell in love with the idea.
Doing the Research: Back in London, she spent a whole day on the London subway, getting off the train at different stations to taste the coffee. "It was terrible, and I knew there was a gap (空缺) in the market." In 1995, they opened their first Coffee Republic shop in central London.
Making it work: The first year was very difficult. British people were not used to the names of American coffees, like latte and macchiato. But being successful was their dream and they were not going to give up. Today, there are over 100 Coffee Republic shops all over the country and the company has £30 million a year.
Advice for others: Sarah has now written a best-selling book about their experience, called Anyone Can Do It! She hopes it will help other young people to start their own businesses. She says, "If you think you have the energy, then get out and follow your dream."

Julie: Did you like the singing competition yesterday, Anna?
Anna: Oh, it was! Nelly sang so well!
Julie: Well, I think Lisa sang than Nelly.
Anna: Oh, which one was Lisa?
Julie: The one with shorter hair. I think she sang more than Nelly.
Anna: Yes, but Nelly danced better than Lisa.
Julie: You can tell that Lisa a lot more and really wanted to win.
Anna: Well, everyone wants to win. But the most important thing is something new and have fun.
Kate, my pen friend, is student at Sunny School. She works very hard, so she always gets (good) grades than others.
She has some healthy habits now. However, a year ago, she was different from now. She often(feel) tired after a day's study, and she didn't want to do any sports after school. Her parents wanted her (exercise) every day. But she said that she didn't like exercising. After dinner, her parents asked her to go a walk with them, but she only stayed at home and read(book). On weekends, she never went out to play with her friends. She just spent her time(watch) TV or playing computer games. That was (real) bad for her health. Her parents worried about her lifestyle.
One day, her teacher talked to her about her lifestyle asked her to change. Now she walks to school and exercises every day. On weekends, she often plays basketball with her friends. She thinks is good for her to take exercise every day. It helps her to study better.
