It's hard to be an astronaut's son. Everyone expects you to be1. I'm jut a normal eleven-year- old kid. My father is so god at everything. I often wonder2my father ever had a son like me.
One morning, my teacher announced a3Day essay(散文)competition for the whole school. What would I4? My father is an astronaut I would start out with that No. I decided I wouldn't do that. The whole country and maybe even the whole5saw my father as an astronaut,6that wasn't the way I saw him.
How did I7my father? Hmm.
I saw him sitting with me in the dark when I was little and had a nightmare. I saw him teaching me how to throw a baseball.
I remembered him hugging me for hours when my dog was killed by a car. And I remembered how he8me with a new little dog at my eighth birthday party. These were the things I was going to write about my dad. To me, he wasn't 9a world-famous astronaut, he was my dad.
On Thursday night, the winning essays would be10in the hall with all the parents and students present. When the third prize was announced and it wasn't me, I was relieved and11 at the same time. Then the second prize. It was me! I went up to the stage and read my essay "My Father's Son." I watched my parents as I read.
When I finished reading, the audience(观众)applauded(鼓掌). I saw my father blowing his nose. Tears were running down my mother's 12. Dad 13 his throat, and put his hand on my shoulder, "Son, this is the proudest moment of my life."
It was the proudest moment of my life, too. Maybe I'll14be agreat hero or win a Nobel Prize, but just then, it was15just to be my father's son.

Old Man Used His Own Money to Send 33 Strangers to College
A retired carpenter(退休的木匠)from Des Moines has helped send 33 kids to college since his death in 2005.
Dale Schroeder was a simple, honest man. He grew up poor and worked as a carpenter for the same company for 67 years.
"Went to work every day. Worked really hard. Was frugal(节俭的)," said Schroeder's good friend Steve Nielsen. "He had church jeans and work jeans."
No one thought that he had saved up a large number of money.
Schroeder never married and had no children, so before he died, he went to his lawyer with a plan for his money. "He said, 'I never got the chance to go to college. So, I'd like to help kids go to college'," Nielsen told CBS News.
"Finally, I was curious(好奇的)and I said, 'How much are we talking about, Dale? And he said, 'Oh, just shy of $3 million'. I nearly fell out of my chair," Nielsen recalled
Schroeder left special instructions for his money: send kids to college.
"He wanted to help kids that were like him, and that probably would not have had chance to go to college without his gift," Nielsen said.
Schroeder ended up paying for 33 strangers' college money.
The persons, who have named themselves "Dale's kids", got together earlier this month to honor the great man who changed their lives. They're now doctors, teachers…
Henry was going through a very hard time. His wife passed away one month ago. He thought his life became meaningless. Henry sat in his house sadly and did nothing.
One day, Henry's neighbor, Lisa, saw him from her yard. She hadn't seen him outside for several days! She wanted to help Henry. Then she had an idea.
Lisa said to Henry, "Hello, Henry! Just look at this fence(篱笆)between our houses. It is falling apart. You are a strong man. Can you help fix this fence?"
After hearing Lisa's words, Henry was a little angry. He didn't want to help her. He thought he was the one who needed help. He thought Lisa was kind of rude. However, he agreed to help Lisa because Lisa was too old to fix the fence herself.
Henry spent a few days fixing the fence. When he finished, Lisa thanked him. Henry gave her a smile. It was his first time to smile after his wife passed away.
"What a wonderful job! Could you please paint it for me?" Lisa said to him. Henry thought for a while and agreed. Then he began to paint the fence in the hot sun. As his neighbors passed by and saw Henry, they all praised Henry for what he was doing. Henry felt happy and proud. He felt his life was not meaningless any more.
Henry finally understood Lisa's purpose. She wanted Henry to know that staying busy could help him forget his sorrow(悲痛). Henry thanked Lisa a lot.
The world's highest highway tunnel(公路隧道), Mila Mountain Tunnel, was open to traffic on April 26, 2019, at an altitude(海拔) of over 4,750 meters above sea level in Southwest China's Tibet.
The two-way tunnel is over 5. 7 km long, which is a part of the 400-km highway connecting Lhasa with Nyingchi. People started building the tunnel on the5, 018-meter-high Mila Mountain in 2015. And it was finished in 2019, helping shorten the 18-km distance(距离)over the mountain to 5. 7 km.
It wasn't easy to build the highest tunnel in China. Terribly cold weather and too little oxygen(氧气)were two main difficulties. Besides, carrying everything to the building site(工地)was a great challenge for over 2, 000 workers.
However, everyone at the site worked hard to finish building the tunnel on time and more than 10 latest techniques were developed while the workers were doing this great project. "We've worked here for several years and lived in simple houses, "said XuYong, the leader of the project. "Everything was so difficult, but we never fee sorry for ourselves here. It is a great project. "
The highway is an important way to the eastern part of Tibet. It can help to make more people visit Tibet and bring traffic convenience to local people.
