A young man goes to the city and buys himself(他自己) a pair of socks. When he comes back home, he goes to his room and tries them on. He finds they are in different colours. One is blue and the other is green. He goes into the kitchen. His mother and his sister are cooking dinner. He says to them, "The new socks are in different colours. I should make them in the same colour. Would you like to do this for me?" His mother and sister are very busy and they don't say anything. When his mother finishes(结束) cooking, she goes to her son's room and changes the green sock into blue. She comes back without(没有) saying a word to her son. After supper, his sister goes to her brother's room and changes one blue sock into green without saying anything to anyone.
Mr Zhang has a big wallet, but he does not always bring much money with him when he goes out. He likes going shopping, but he seldom buys things for himself. Today is his little daughter's birthday. He wants to buy something for her as a birthday present, so he goes into a shopping mall. He looks here and there, and wants to buy all the nice things he sees for his daughter. But he knows that he cannot buy everything. His little daughter is good at singing and likes music, but she does not know how to use a CD player. A computer is very useful, but she is too young to use a computer. Finally, Mr Zhang sees two lovely teddy bears and decides(决定)to buy them. He gives the teddy bears to his little daughter and she is very happy. She says her father is the best father in the world.
On Saturdays and Sundays, people usually need to do some shopping. Some people go to shops or stores; some go to the supermarkets. In America, many people enjoy shopping in the shopping malls. A mall has a lot of different kinds of shops in it. There you can buy clothes, tables, and everything you need. American people like driving to malls, so many shopping malls have big parking lots. Usually, the mall is in a building, so people do not need to worry about the sun or the rain.
After shopping, you may get tired. You can walk into a coffee bar for a short rest. There are also many different restaurants in the mall and you can have a good meal. Now more and more Americans like to go shopping there.
I'm Anna. I have good news! We have a new flat! The rooms are small but comfortable.
There are more rooms in the new flat than in our old flat. This is good because now I have my bedroom. In the old flat, I shared(共用)a bedroom with my sister. My bedroom is my favourite room in the new flat. I can be alone in it. I can read or draw. I can listen to my radio or play CDs. I can play games on my computer and send emails to my friends. My second favourite room is the kitchen. I love helping my mother cook meals. She is a very good cook. She teaches me how to make many different kinds of dishes. She lived in New York when she was a girl, and she can cook American food. It's tasty.
