Last month we asked our students about their free time activities. Our questions were about exercise,1 of the Internet and watching TV. 2 are the results.
We found that only fifteen percent of our students exercise every day. Forty-five percent exercise four to six times a week. Twenty percent exercise only one to three times a week. And twenty percent do not exercise3!
We all know that many students often go online, but we were surprised that ninety percent of them use the Internet every day. 4 ten percent use it at 5 three or four times a week. Most students use it for fun6 not for homework.
The answers 7 our questions about watching television were also8. Only two percent of the students watch TV one to three times a week. Thirteen percent watch TV four to six times a week. And eighty-five percent watch TV every day! 9 many students like to watch sports, game shows are10 popular.
It is good to relax by using the Internet or watching game shows, but we think the best way to relax 11 through exercise. It is healthy for the 12 and the body. Exercise 13 playing sports is fun and you can 14 time with your friends and family as you play together. And remember "Old habits die hard.” So start exercising before it's 15 late!

I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided to go to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so exciting! For lunch, we had something very special Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious! In the afternoon, we rode bicycles to Georgetown. There are a lot of new buildings now, but many of the old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in Georgetown, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was like here in the past. I really enjoyed walking around the town.

What a difference a day makes! My father and I decided to go to Penang Hill today. We wanted to walk up to the top, but then it started raining a little so we decided to take the train. We waited over an hour for the train because there were too many people. When we got to the top it was raining really hard. We didn't have an umbrella so we were wet and cold. It was terrible! And because of the bad weather, we couldn't see anything below. My father didn't bring enough money, so we only had one bowl of rice and some fish. The food tasted great because I was so hungry!
Do you know the girl in the picture? She is Katie Ledecky. She was born on March 17, 1997 in the USA. She is 24 years old, but she has won 5 Olympic gold medals (奥运金牌) in the sport of swimming. How did she do all of this at such a young age? "The secret,” Katie says, "is that there isn't secret but practice!”
For one thing, she started young. Katie followed her brother into the sport of swimming when she was just six years old. Around that same time, she even met Michael Phelps, a great Olympic swimmer. For another, Katie loves swimming and she tries her best. Here is one common day of Katie:
● Getting up at 4:00 in the morning.
● Swim practice from 5:00 to 7:00 in the morning.
● Out of pool training from 11:00 to 12:00 (3 days a week).
● Swim practice from 2:30 to 6:00 in the afternoon.
Maybe this is Katie's secret.
Can you live in your "home” when you are traveling(旅行)? You may say it's "impossible(不可能的)”. But the Home Exchange (交换)Vacation Club can help you make it.
Home Exchange Vacation started in Europe fifty years ago. At that time, some teachers wanted to go to Europe on vacation, but they didn't have enough money. Then they thought of an idea. They had some friends in Europe. When they traveled in the cities where their friends lived, they could live in their friends' house and cooked food there. And when their friends visited the cities they lived in, they could do the same, so both of them could save lots of money, enjoy delicious food and make more friends. And with the money, they could visit more interesting places.
Later, some teachers made the HEVC — Home Exchange Vacation Club. Many people joined the club in more than fifty countries around the world. It is also popular in China now. When you are visiting some places, just call your friends. And they may give you a warm "home”.
Schools in different countries have different rules. Some of them are very special. Let's take a look at them.
Japan: Most students in Japan have to wear uniforms like sports suits and skirts. They ask girls to wear white socks in a certain way and boys to have the same hairstyle (发型). And in many Japanese schools, students can't go to the cinema, leave home in the evening or play video games.
The US: In some schools, students must wear indoor shoes every day. So they won't fall down. Also they don't dirty the schools. Students can't chew gum (嚼口香糖), because it's not easy to clean. And if students chew gum in class, they may not focus on their study.
France: Students in France can have their own mobile phones, but they mustn't use them at school.
